@Chris @nickm the fire was almost out but it turned the battery back on and she went back up even worse.
Shit happens. I will strip all the burnt parts back and see what I am left with.
bigal
Holy crap! I thought that was a joke at first. Cool photo.
timmykroek
@bigal haha I wish it was a joke mate. Made for a nice photo, cant do anything to change it now.
nickm
Well post it on the Bruces something something Saab fuel lines.
Hope the gear box and bits survive
TerryA
At least your safe, shame about the car
timmykroek
@TerryA @nickm thanks guys.
Will scrape the melted plastic off in the morning and see where we get too.
Ex850R
Bugger!
Jamest5r_
Oh shit, not that it's any use now but you don't need to remove the fuel line's incase you do another
timmykroek
@Jamest5r_ hey man, I actually have to do my R wagon so how do you get the manifold out of the way when the fuel lines are still connected?
Ghettobird
Holy shit Tim!
Thats my worst nightmare, so sorry for your loss :(
Id JUST taken pics of my leather T5 steering wheel for you too!
If the box is ok you will have to do seals on it at a minimum, fire is the single worst thing that can happen to a car :(
I never loosened my fuel lines, I undid the top motor fuel line holder and the bracket that secures them to the back of the block
The flexi rubber section after that give you more than enough flex room to move the rail out of the way
If theres any bits I can help secure for you down in Melb to get your R going just let me know!
phonsa
Holy $hit, glad no one was injured.
nickm
Could have been as simple as a cracked or perished return fuel line.
With all the turbo cars check all the hoses if any doubt replace them. Especially ones you are moving around as you work on the car. Turbos and heat kill the hoses.
It is not a bad idea to replace the injector o-rings at the same time. I remove the injector rail.
timmykroek
@Ghettobird thanks man. Cant change it now. I've always undone the fuel lines at the fuel rail. I will try your way instead when I do the wagon.
Thank you for the offer. Dropping her off for a blue slip this week to see what it needs for rego. Then PCV and a stage 0.
@phonsa thank you, only me in the car thank god.
@nickm yeah I will be going over the R and replacing everything. The two fuel lines are still intact so I am not sure where it started. Anyway, onwards and upwards.
Need to strip the engine bay back and see if the gearbox is salvageable. Then I will part it out.
bigal
Glad I re-read this before doing the xc90 pcv system. I shall mutter to myself "don't undo the fuel lines! don't undo the fuel lines! your volvo will end up like Timmy's otherwise"
I must say @timmykroek, you still have the best photo for 2016 on ozvolvo.
timmykroek
@bigal hahah yeah certainly do it without disturbing fuel lines if you can.
I still show people all the time. Another life story!
