Okay so things changed pretty quick.

I now have the 850R wagon in my possession, never owned a wagon before but there is something oddly cool about it. It needs the PCV done and then take it for a blue slip to see if it will pass for rego. It needs a LOT of cleaning up. Lots of broken interior bits and the steering wheel and front seats are ratty as hell, back seat is okay for 20 year old car. R front bar is badly damaged and needs repair and repaint. Otherwise body is decent and the R spoiler is there.

I took the wheels and all the parts I had bought off the sedan and did a swap with @Russell for his T-5. Whether or not this was the right choice I will never know, It's obviously not an R but it's running, in pretty good nick, MANUAL and has 8 months rego. Most importantly it is all sorts of fun to drive! I am loving it, and am finally enjoying a 5 cylinder Volvo! The T-5 needs a new front seat because of a big tear, is missing the roof lining, and the roof paint is shot, but is otherwise pretty clean. The T-5 also needs the PCV done ASAP.

So I just ordered 2 PCV Kits from Rock Auto ($300 landed in Australia by tue/wed next week) so will get them done as soon as I can to both cars. Should get them both done next weekend.

So PCV will be getting done this saturday on the T5 first. Put a new battery in it and now it fires up strong.

First thing on the list after PCV, my brakes feel like I'm kicking a brick wall. Is this a booster issue?

@nickm well this might be a stupid question but how do I tell? I have noticed occasionally under hard braking the abs light comes on and stays on.

The light should only come on at startup... It is a very common issue. See if you have any codes stored.

My bet is the ABS ECU needs re flowing the solder joints and the ABS pump wiring is decayed.

@nickm it's a 1995. I believe it's got the code reader under the bonnet.

@nickm so it gave me A3 port 4-4-4 which means no power supply to hydraulic modulator valves.

Now I'm researching what that means. Looking forward to having brakes.

PCV kit turns up tomorrow so will get that done as might be doing a five hour each way trip on the weekend and would really rather take the T5 then the work hiace.

Sort out the module... Swap it for another or re-flow the solder in the unit.
But your brakes should feel okay with it not working.

To check the booster..with the car off pump the pedal a couple of times it should go hard.
With your foot on the pedal start the car it should drop a little.
If this is not happening look for a vacuum leak.

@nickm I will check out a vacuum leak. I work for a heavy haulage company and the mechanic suggested the same thing re the booster bit the pedal doesn't move doing as such.

Will find a guide to the soldering and sort that out.

Rockauto delivery turned up today. Cheap and super fast delivery so hopefully the kits are half decent quality.

Doing the T5 tomorrow night and the 855 on Saturday.
Than onto sorting the brakes for the T5.

Took the 855 to work today so we could put it on the weighbridge, came in at 1520, few things in it that could come out though to bring it in under 1500 kg.
God damn the manual is so much more fun to drive than the auto.

Did the PCV on the T5 last night. Took 5 hours doing it slow and triple checking everything.

Made sure the fuel lines were reattached tightly and securely. Must have missed something because the good lord stepped in and decided the T5 should be the parts car and I should keep the R.

Wonder if the manual transmission is still good?
