I mean Christ... the car has 194,000KM on it and the suspension is original and still better then a new falcadore :-)
I had the tools with me so if I had been in a bind I could have fixed it on the spot with a bit of work if I was in the middle of nowhere

I'll be dammed if I don't get half a million KM out of it so I can own the highest KM BMW 5 series in Australia

I love how people defend fwd volvos that break so much without dodgy fuel. But this car dies due to bad fuel and people think it needs to go.....

New pump is in, have car back
Going to keep a pair of 5L Jerry cans of diesel in the trunk for a few weeks
They think there might have been a bit of twist in one of the pipes and that might have caused it, still strange to them and me either way

Just filled it up for $1.127 L at a wollies... should have me set for a little while

Few weeks ago the one of the SRS sensors died
This has partialy crippeled the SRS system

The parts for the SRS system for some reasons are stupidly cheap from BMW for some unknown reason so I've just ended up ordering the part from BMW aus for under $200 and should have it sometime later this week

Otherwise.... Car has been flawless for last 3 months and nearly up to 200,000KM

I also went online... and found that Taleb Tyres now has RS3's in stock

So in about 2 weeks shoudl finaly get new rubber onto the other set of rimps and get them onto the car...

A few component failures at 200,000k is expected, it's pretty much the components designed life. If you head to the US again it would probably be best to bring back a few things. Including another auto transmission if you plan to keep the car.

The auto is the zf so not cheap there or here anyway...

Parts aren't that cheap though. And the filter is part of the pan stock. But you can replace it with a separate pan and filter.

Pan kit is $150
New solenoids are $350 for the full set
new uprated steels + clutches + seals kit is $200

Including redline D6 fluid (which redline rate for the ZF) I could easily have it done for under a grand and a day of my time

Mine did have the BMW issued 2011 software update done which resolves the known issues with the A/E Clutch pack wear (1-2 shift)

Where did it get the prices from? My auto guy base costs here is waaaay more than tha. Especially for upgrading to handle xr6t power.

Hey look what I found. I can't believe I moved these cars from Sydney - Yass - Griffith in about 4 days. Needless to say I was pretty stuffed by the end. The BMW is hella comfy though and tows very well on the flats as well as through the twisties on the Burley Griffin.

One of the airbag impact sensors failed in one of the front doors
I ended up just replacing both sides because the system can get unhappy if you done
Whole $200aud spent for brand new sensors from BMW USA

Been driving it to and from work... its way to much fun for what it is... already slightly wondering if I'm making the right choice in replacing it with the S40...

One thing though is that when I replaced the door sensor, I broke the connector for the speaker wires... so today I'm going to solder on some new wires and a new connector

Knowing exactly where you're living while build, and knowing what storage you'll have, makes decisions like this easier. But our registration laws do make owning two cars a bit overpriced.
The new club rego rules are only for old cars aren't they?
