I purchased a 88 240 for my son as a first car. Trying to get my head around why it is running so rich.
Symptoms.
Black smoke
Bad idle
Miss under load at around 2000rpm
Work done.
Remove and clean maf with maf cleaner
No leaks or holes in intake tube
Remove and clean TB replace with new gasket (was caked in black greasy crap)
Remove and clean flame trap (was blocked)
Seems to stop blowing smoke when running it with MAF Disconnected but it will not rev then
Waiting on plugs, rotor and cap to arrive.
I have read that the coolant sensor can through things out this has it under the intake manifold with a single spade connector on it. there is another which I am sure is for the gauge on the other side of the block. Does anybody no whare Resistance reading I should be getting from this sensor. I have downloaded a few green books for the injection but they all seem a little different, Cannot seem to find the right manual for this car.
Any ideas.
