After hiring the Camaro v8 in the states recently my missus would like a new v8 Mustang...once the death pledge is paid off

Does the forum have anyone with any contacts or in WA?. A cheap 07 V8 XC90 just popped up on gumtree? Wasn't planning a trip to WA but if the price is right and the vehicle is half decent.....:)

Zero lag in the S60 D5, gets positive pressure from like 1400 rpm. Its a pretty solid choice if you aren't allowed the v8. DPF won't appreciate lots of short City trips though.

That sounds pretty nice. I see I have a lot to learn about volvos. First I have to get me one...:)

I THINK the XC90 D5 is D5244T5 circa 2002 through 2014, 120kw, but I don't have the torque curves for it. I was misremembering the P3 XC70 ones (d5244T11 and d5244T15) which are nice and flat from 1500rpm to 3000 and change. Maybe someone here can track down the curves.
Edit: D5244T4 (136kw) for 2005 through 2011 from Wikipedia. Same engine appears to be in the V70 for which the curves are in
https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/75b18993-60ac-420a-a6c7-ad6068164310. Full torque from about 2000 rpm onwards, definitely a bit of lag as Philia mentioned.

Yeah def a lag on take off but once up and running she goes quite well. Just keep it spooled up!!

Been a while since we have had any movement in this thread, but I've just taken a MY13 D5 r-design with polestar for a drive, was bloody nice to drive. It had 120k on the clock which I though was quiet high. What would you be happy paying for this (from a dealer)?
Also about to take a MY14 with 94k same for a drive on Saturday, hopefully putting a deposit down.

I've been overseas for the last 4 weeks, so that's why I haven't been able to post my unusual questions, so we can see this thread going strong!!
My wife has driven the Volvo XC90 2011 R Design V8 from Melbourne to the Gold Coast, and its only cost us around $300 in fuel. There were a few overnight stops along the way, going through Sydney, Coffs Harbour, Newcastle, and Byron Bay, so it wasn't entirely a straight run. That's pretty good in my eyes, as I had estimated it to be around $400-450 each way.
The car with the 120k on the clock (in my eyes), and a guess would be 26-30k. The only thing I don't know is what things to look out for at that 120k range (servicing wise).
One strange thing I'm seeing with my Volvo though is that then rear-left passenger door won't open from the outside sometimes, and I need to press the unlock button from my remote, which then allows me to open it from the outside. The rear right hand door opens without fail. I do use the powered safety locks for the rear doors and hatch, so I'm not sure if something has happened there. Any ideas?

Child lock/tab thing might be on or half engaged? Just a random guess.

I have a similar but different problem, left passenger door won't open from inside even with the child lock off.

Where would the manual child lock be as I can't see the tab on the side of the door?

SSBB: what happens when you unlock from your FOB? Does it work?
sucksqueezebangblow
Child locks are electronic on my V50, it opens from the outside. I've just realised when I pulled off the door trim recently I didn't reconnect the cable to the pull handle inside, duh

It's done! I've put the deposit down. 2013 MY 14, D5 R-Design with Polestar. Ice white.

First addition to it will be an OzVolvo sticker on the back window!

Nice!
Km?
3rd row ac?
Price? (If your willing to share just so i can update my average cost recomendations to others)
Is it the tan interior or the dark?
Moojie
Just cos it's you Bear
It's got 90k on it, which is pretty high, but we will be doing no where near that a year 10-15k so not to worried there.
Has the 3rd row AC, still under warranty until Feb 2017
Paid $37k, was hoping for $36k but I'm still happy. Very clean throughout, full service books.
He's doing the 90k service as part of the RWC

Very nice!
I'm still looking. My budget is considerably less so this sort of vehicle is out of range. Would be nice though.
Out of curiosity, what is the give life expectancy mileage of the D5 engine, as I'm trying to keep my net as wide as possible and some of the well kept cars have higher than average miles.
All the 8s I've driven have been very tired (I byproduct of a lower budget) and the one I had checked in WA had a leak from the rear seal.
Good thing is I'm in no Super rush!! Although the wife has started mentioning Pajeros again.

Bloody awesome buy!!!! I'm jealous that it's still under warranty :)
