Berry Motors Group checked over it and all looks great! Great place and great staff!!
It had its last basic service at 74,051 km (for the 75,000 km check). Should I really be looking at the next service interval at 82,500?
Has anyone used three booster seats in the middle row? Is there a specific brand/model that works well with the seats?
One thing to note is that the R-Design model can't hold a spare tyre without modifying the exhaust. It does have a tyre inflation kit though, so will be good for the small punctures.

How old & tall are your kids?
Wouldn't it have built in boosters?
The V50 does, and my 135cm tall 7 year old sits on it. My wife wasn't too keen at first but I convinced her the Swedes should know what they are doing, safety wise. (She is half Swedish so kind of cheque mated her there)

Hah - Too right on the check mate!
I have three children who are 5, 4, and 1 year old. I've got the 1 year old covered with the convertible booster until she is 4, but was wondering whether there were other types of booster seats people were using in their middle rows?
I'm not sure if I'll use the inbuilt booster seat, as I wasn't sure how safe it was for a shorter child (under 110cm).

I'd wait for them to grow a little more to use the inbuilt boosters, good thing is kids grow so quickly.
We have bought hundreds of seats (exag) of varying sizes, including some expensive ones, over the years but currently have bought these $100 ones which had good reviews by a testing company and mums group forums etc. I'll ask the missus for the details. (Edit: BOSTON HIGH POD)
We had to buy sets for both our cars and the grandparents cars.
I only recently sold the last stroller which freed up valuable space, it sucks when you have double mountain buggys, single mountain buggys and strollers all over the garage!

Thanks SSBB! I'll go check the HIPOD Boosters out! My next task is to clear the garage, which is going to kill me!
Do you also recommend any reclining stroller in particular which is light, and can fit with all 7 seats up? I've seen a few super light ones, so still looking around at the moment.

When was the last service at Volvo?
If not in the last year you should do one now (early) at Volvo to get any available updated software
After that you should be doing an oil change every 7500KM or 6 Months whichever comes first
Full service is just going to be once a year for everything not an oil change and car to volvo about once every 2 years for software updates
Penrite HPR10 (10w50) full synthetic on the oil

The car was serviced on the 20/1/2016.
Can the indepednant Volvo Service Centres offer the software upgrades as well, or are they only available through Volvo itself?
If I'm averaging less than 7,500km per year, then do I just schedule the full yearly service regardless?

Volvo dealer network only for software updates AFAIK

6 months or 7500km
so you might end up doing an oil change every 3000km

I contacted one of the local Volvo dealers, and they bundle the basic service, with software updates for around $650-680.
bumperplates
I didn't realise that Volvo make software updates extremely frequently - almost monthly.

Its amazing in some ways, you get a Toyota/Hyundai/honda and it never gets an update... on the other hand if you get a volvo it gets an update every second month
They are looking at doing OTA updates on the new S90/V90 as well which would be really nice
pauljloz
Not nice if theres a problem with the update.....
bumperplates
I wonder the amount of testing that would be involved for updates that frequent, ensuring that they work across all XC90 models, across all years
Lastly, can anyone recommend a good car insurance policy for the car? I've had a look at a few insurers, and the average is around $1,400-1,500? AAMI was around $1,000, and budget direct is $850.
Philia_Bear
Allianz, NRMA, Shannons
Does NRMA have a VIC equivalent that offers Ins?
bumperplates
Allianz is looking at around $1,400. I believe NRMA is RACV is Victoria which is around $1,500. I'll try Shannon's and see what they come back as.
bumperplates
Bugger! No Online Quote facility for Shannon's
bumperplates
I'll let you know how the Shannon quote goes tomorrow!
Is this the way you would recommend replacing the oil on the car with the Penrite Oil? Would I only need one 5Litre bottle?
sucksqueezebangblow
The handbook will tell you oil capacity.
You will need more than 5l probably.
Wait for repco or supercheap to have 20% off and buy a years worth.
