I've seen the light application of a heat gun on hard door plastics ie where they keep getting kicked on entry and exit) work wonders for scratches and scuff marks. Also on the hard plastics of glove boxes etc.

I might try the armorall / 303 protectant and see how I go. You think one bottle will do the whole inside of the car? I'll buy a few cloths so I can wipe on / wipe off! :)/
sucksqueezebangblow
you will only need a fraction of one whole bottle.
Agouti
The turlewax trim restorer works a treat, better than armourall in my opinion.

I'll go check that out! How many micro towels should I buy? What should I use for the windows, and mirrors?
bigal
You guys and your V8's and Diesel XC90's! 2.5T is where it's at.
That 303 is good stuff.
kyril
Lol bigal.
I've never owned a turbo car before. The closest thing I came to the 2.5T was my 2.5 V6 626 Mazda. But geez that was a nice motor. By the time I saw it go it had over 300k on the clock and didn't use a drop of oil or water. It was just all the ancillaries that were starting to go. Gearbox, driveshafts, electrics, etc..... But it was one very smooth engine.
I'm looking forward to finding my V8 Xc90 it's just got to turn up..... ;P

What year are you after, more to the point, what Kms & $

It's going to be our second car and the other half wants a seven seater for the convenience. I had the choice of vehicle but she had choice of budget!! :)
Budget is limited to around 15k so it limits our choices a bit. There were quite a few around a few months ago that would have filled the bill but everything seems to have dried up a bit.
In saying that one has just popped up on Gumtree in WA and I'm getting that checked over by OGradys there (As recommended by Mark at Berrys here in Vic). Last one I got checked over there came up with a leaky rear main seal so struck that on off the list.
This one's interior looks very neat and the outside straight enough. Just hoping the mechanicals check out ok....but the price is right for one with 168k on the clock :)

Let us know how it goes with the purchase!

I drove through parts of Sydney and Volvo's were everywhere!!

Well looks like I'm going to be the owner of a new Xc90 v8 Sport in willow Green I think the colour is.
The check came back great. Adam at O'Grady's said that the interior was one of the best he had seen for the age and in general the car had been well looked after.
A couple of minor cosmetic stuff but what 9 year old car doesn't have those??
First things first, though. I've got to arrange purchase and transport back from WA. And rego transfer.
Philia_Bear
What year is it?
Just remember to never wash the engine unless you know the balance shaft vally has been drilled

Philia_Bear
I do like the white trim

Looks beautiful!!! The leather is fantastic!!!
Bear: How do you know if the shaft has been drilled? Can someone like me see it or does it need a mechanic? I'm also up to 85,000km now after the long trip, so should I wait out for the 90,000km maintenance service. I think it was last serviced at the 72,000km mark.
I had a strange problem with my oessenvar door locks on the trip where they wouldnt open either on the inside or outside. It now seems to have magically fixed itself! One of the outside door handles appeared loose, so I pulled the handle slightly up and out, and the door started opening again. I did read that the plastic used for the lock mechanism isn't the best, even though the plastics throughout the rest of the car are top quality.
I bought the Bowden Own Leather Love, Vinyl Care, and Glass Care (special is on at super auto cheap at the moment) so I'll see how I go cleaning the interior and post pics! If I succeed the I'll attempt the outside, or else I'll scream defeat and take it to a detailer.
I also bought the BONE tools required to take off the door trip from Repco for $10 to try and figure out that strange buzzing noise when the speaker is on in the drivers door. I think it may be the control unit housing for the power windows but still guessing as to the vibration. I got the speaker changed so it definitely isn't that at all

One thing I didn't realise as well was that the middle seat head cushion can pull up to be higher. The look of the head cushion on the middle seat deceived me!

Cheers bumper,
Yeah the interior at least from photos (and from what O'Grady's said) looks pretty mint.
Still a little nervous about buying a car sight unseen but it's been checked out and it passes so I'm happy with that!
Glad a sport came up. Id driven a couple of executive v8s and wasn't really impressed with the handling. Hey I know we are talking about a big wagons here but my 20 year old pathy felt like it was better connected to the road through the steering wheel than the executives I drove!! They seemed very vague on road. Maybe they both had shagged suspension but....
The Sport tune on the suspension is miles ahead.
One thing that does need doing on it is one of the lower engine mounts can't remember which one Adam said is getting near gone but apparently this is a pretty quick job.
kyril
Oh and I used a clay Bar treatment for the first time on my Commodore last time I polished it. That really provides a great finish!

I used the Leather Love and Vinyl Care products from Bowden's Own, and it works out pretty good!
I've assessed my damage from the long trip and that you're right - I either have to relax or be a tyrant. If I relax then it's more cost effective! If my OCD takes over, then my bank account will be disinegrated!
Note to OCD self: I noticed quite a few deep scratches on the interior plastics and interior roof due to the luggage being crammed in there, and quite a few dents on the sides of car (on the strip that's found lower on the door) because people don't care about other people's property!
