Some b*tch or b*stard dented my xc90 passenger door. Could of been at the airport, childcare or work car parks. Only noticed it this morning. A little annoyed but learning to move on.. the whole point of getting this lower cost ($11grand) xc90 was to expect this kinda stuff.
Chris
Douchebags. Do you have people who do PDR in your locale?
bigal
Yep we have a good place called Mr Dingo. I know he can get the metal straight again no probs but the paint has come off. Not sure how far to take this repair.
Chris
I'd say PDR and touch up or just touch up. Cost of respray, risk of colour mismatch and potential for a repeat experience suggest the full repair path isn't worth it.

The bent metal bothers me more than the paint chip. Yeah might opt for touch up paint. Got a pile of other dents to suck out n straighten up so looks like I better book it in.
You're right.. it will just happen again. Gees it must suck to have a brand new car and this happen.
Chris
I kept my Focus, which I had from new, the hell away from everyone. It worked but it was stressful and no way to live.
OTOH as soon as I parked the V50 among other cars some penis left a long mark down one door. Thankfully scratch remover fixed it. I now tend to park away from others if I can in this car too.

How much are PDR guys generally?
Chris
It's a how long is a piece of string question. Depends on the size of the dent and ease of access among others.
Haven't used them for a fair while but used to be about $60-100 for a very simple small and easy to access dent and up from there.
Others will know but probably $100 and up now at least. Still way cheaper than panel shops and good repairs can be perfect.

I'm looking at citroen cactus's.. that airbump door guard they have standard is really appealing to me. Wish there was an airbump stick on pad for our xc90s.
Actually I might invent some and call it the AlBump. No idea where to start. Ideas?
Chris
I love those things, very cool. I also love the airbumps that were designed as an anti douchebag device. Not sure how they'd look on an XC90 though. ..

It’s been a long time everyone! I hope you’re all well!!
I’ve been enjoying my V8 so much that my tyres need replacing! I didn’t realise it but they are almost bald!
Any recommendations for long lasting, quiet, and good overall tyres that won’t break my poor piggy bank?
Yokohama? Continental? Bridgestone? Pirelli?
What are your thoughts?
kyril
I fitted some kuhmos on the front of my v8 that have now done 30k and probably have at least that left in them. Nice and quiet. Very happy with them and was able to get them for 250 a tyre.

Thanks for the recommendation! Which one exactly?
The tyres that I have right now are Michelin Latitude Sport A0 255/45 R 20 101W, and they seem noisy and wear out fast!!

Kuhmo solus 255/50r19 are the actual tyres.
Never really been a fan of good year tea after a shocking set on one of my early cars!
I've had two sets of Hankooks on my other car and am very happy with them but at the time didn't have Hankooks in the size with the correct load rating

Hmm I can see that my tyres are a bit bigger and wider.
What size should I be after? Can I drop it down without affecting anything so I can look at a bigger range of tyres?
kyril
You've got the 20inch rims so unless you change rim size you can't really reduce the size of your tyres.
Looking at the way it works you have the same rolling diameter as me, 1 inch bigger wheels but 45 profile as opposed to 50 for me. So I have a bigger sidewall on the tyres. Just meant they didn't have to do any adjustments on Speedo to get same reading.
Youcould ask around on here to see if someone wants to do a swap to the 19 but if you like you 20inch then you may be limited to your tyre selection. The 19s run pretty nice with that little extra bit of sidewall.

Damn indeed! I went down from the 21 inch to the 20 inch when I withdrew my first purchase.!!
I found a good price for Goodyear Excellence tyres. I’ll report back and let you know the feel as the reviews say that some people get 50,000km out of them.

Any updates on the Tyres for the xc90’s? Still very happy with mine, when my wife lets me drive it, but looking at new tyres soon wanting to know what others are running / happy with. When purchased it came with General Grabbers GT’s 255/50R19 and I’ve been very happy except the sidewalls look to almost perish/crack & chip. Considering the weight of the MY14 XC90 they havnt worn to bad.
