I think I'm going to have to purchase a Volvo Sticksr myself!!
One other thing I noticed with my car was the right hand front speaker on the lower part of the door has a vibrating noise when bass is going trough it. I had the speaker replaced but the noise is still there (I thought it was a blown speaker). I think it may be vibration from something close to the speaker, and I'm not sure where to start now. Any ideas?

Ick on the Pajero
Define very tired?
The 8 will last longer than any of the other motors including the D5 as long as serviced properly and fed 98
D5 has a life of 500K+ easily if treated properly
It also needs to be raped around town on a regular basis to keep the EGR clear and the DPF clean
This weeks 2 top value D5's

Hey Bear,
In relation to the 8s they were very uncared for is prob the best description. getting tatty on the interior. And the general "feel" of the car was tired if you know what I mean.
I figure the motors would be good for that sort of range. I'll be going 40km up and down the hwy each day for work so no worries about giving the d5 a good warm run. It's not really going to be used for the school run etc...
Those couple in your post are nice but way above the budget of 15-16k for me being the number 2 car and all....
I'll keep looking. I'll keep pestering a couple of the dealers to drop their price on some v8s!! Like I said, no rush at this stage. The pathy hasn't died yet...

There is nothing on the market i would reccomend for you at the moment
I got lucky with my xc90 last yeat with getting it for 18k with only 80k on it
kyril
Yep she's pretty thin out there.
The reason I asked about the engines is I was toying with the idea of getting a much cheaper higher km one and then having plenty in the budget to do a full stage 0 tune on it. Inc susp etc. Then at least I would know it would be done and sweet for the life I would be owning the car for.
That's the million dollar question though isn't it!!!
Philia_Bear
Higher km means full suspension rebuild in addition to the engine
$5k twin turbo t6 model and just plan to put $10k into it...
Issue is that if its written off by another driver your out a massive amount of $$$
kyril
Yeah I agree. Anyway I don't think the financial controller is keen on that direction anyway!!!
kyril
Heaven forbid I start looking at the 3.2 xc90s!!!!!

I've just ordered the BONE tool so I think I'll take off the door panel and put a lot of adhesive felt tape behind it, and see how I go!
The trip has been taxing on the car! I'm seeing scratches on the plastic interior (glove box) and a few other areas and it's killing me! What do you all use to disguise these fingernail scratches ? Armorall?
Chris
Armorall type products help to a degree but nothing completely fixes them. Bear in mind that you may well have had some of these before but have only seen them now under certain lighting conditions.
Other than that either become a tyrant about how people treat the car or try to relax...

I think relax is the only option now :(
Would you recommend Armorall or somethinf like this:

Chris
I have never used 303 but I hear good things about it. I have used Armorall or similar products for scratch or scuff cover up.
Most will say dont use Armorall on dashboard tops or other soft plastics so don't get carried away!
It is always possible to have plastics sprayed to restore them or with parts like a glove box replace them so don't stress. But ask yourself would you bother? I went down the perfectionist path with my last car and it killed me trying to keep it that way. I told the new owner not to do it when she said she wanted to keep it like I had.
This time the V50 came with things like a scratched glove box, and I just shrug because I figure it's only going to get more. If it ever got awful maybe I would do something.

303 is good stuff. I use it on my vinyl roll'n'lock tonneau cover on my ute
kyril
I've seen the light application of a heat gun on hard door plastics ie where they keep getting kicked on entry and exit) work wonders for scratches and scuff marks. Also on the hard plastics of glove boxes etc.

I might try the armorall / 303 protectant and see how I go. You think one bottle will do the whole inside of the car? I'll buy a few cloths so I can wipe on / wipe off! :)/
sucksqueezebangblow
you will only need a fraction of one whole bottle.
Agouti
The turlewax trim restorer works a treat, better than armourall in my opinion.

I'll go check that out! How many micro towels should I buy? What should I use for the windows, and mirrors?

You guys and your V8's and Diesel XC90's! 2.5T is where it's at.
That 303 is good stuff.
