I truly suck!! You wouldn't happen to know if any may be already coloured with the OEM seat colour?
pauljloz
If you put them up with the middle row forward its impossible to do.
Vinyl repair kit might work. I've never bothered as cant see it through tinted windows.

Yeah, that was my mistake!

The colour is a pretty common one isn't it? Mine is just the usual black.
Regarding your other question, I installed a Towbar on my S60 and it was pretty painless. Worst part was measuring and cutting out the slot from the rear guard but you get a bit of trim which would hide any minor mistakes. It was still $1300 by the time I got the bar (930), module (200), wiring (150), and coding (35). The bar arrived with chunks of paint knocked off too and I needed to touch it up.
The wiring is a bit of a con, $150 for a plug, 5x 1 meter lengths of wire, a rubber boot, bit of conduit and a cheap 7pin trailer socket. The socket isn't even properly strain relieved, just some bodgy electrical tape wrapped around a couple of times. Probably cost about $10 to make.
If I was doing it again I would make up the cable myself. The plug which fills the hole could be reused as a boot and everything else is off the shelf.
Also worth noting that the trailor module doesn't provide an electric brakes output, if your trailor doesn't have inertia controlled brakes you will still need to install a brake controller. Still worth going genuine though, at least for the module, I've not seen the Haymond Reece bar to compare.

I'm hoping to take a 2012 D5 R-design(93000kms) and a 2009 V8 R-design (113000Kms)for a test drive today, anything i should look out for
Agouti
I guess the usual stuff, odd noises or behavior accelerating, changing gears, going over speedbumps or at full lock. Check fuel economy going along a flat bit of 80km/h road with cruise control on. The D5 should be able to get close to 6L/100km unless it triggers a DPF regeneration, the V8 will be more like 9L/100km I think.
For the D5 make sure that the auxiliary belt and tensioner was replaced at or before the 5 year/90,000 service. If buying from a dealership hassle them to treat it as a recall and do it free of charge. If it's not done it can lead to a shredded aux belt which in turn will interfere with the timing belt and destroy the engine.
For the 6 speed auto, especially pay attention shifting Neutral to Drive, there should be no discernible jerk or surge. Likewise gear changes should be reasonably smooth with only little bit of surging under light and medium throttle. Issues with engaging Drive or changing gears is usually a sign the the gearbox oil is degraded and will need to be changed (few hundred if you do it yourself). Sometimes is more serious. Could also be a sign that the car has done some heavy towing or been frequently driven hard.
Make sure if you are buying from a dealership that the car is all up to date software wise, especially if you are planning on self servicing.

Liquid leather I reckon.
I tried flexible sealant on a scrap trim bit.
It's no good.
eBay I think you can get the stuff or direct.
bumperplates
Moojie, also take it to get independently inspected by a Volvo specialist. It's worth it for peace of mind!!
Also, look out for a towbar and then consider what that owner may have towed.
bumperplates
Snoop! I'll try liquid leather and see how I go! I just can't believe how much of an idiot I am with what happened!
bumperplates
Agouti! You're right about the pricing for a tow bar! I may just keep on with paying for items being drivers unless I buy a boat, caravan, or... horse float :)

The natural enemy of the gearbag

What are your thoughts on a 2011 V8 with all the options $27k, but with 180kms (country kms) with towball, and no way to know what has been towing?
Agouti
If you can get a VIDA setup you can plug in and see what the transmission oil degredation counter is... Can't for the life of me remember what it's called. TMI? Something like that. It basically increments each time the TCM thinks the oil has been degraded through heavy use and is used to adjust the gearbox performance. When it gets high enough it also triggers an alert telling you the transmission oil needs replacing.
At the end of the day, though, country driving (even with some heavy towing) would probably be kinder than stop start City driving - especially with a lead foot. With that many km its probably done a few big trips around Australia with a caravan on behind which isn't that bad, though across the top end can get rough.
You could probably use the age of the tyres to help gauge how hard a life its had recently - if they are 3 years old and still have lots of rubber then it's more likely to have been pretty light duty.
At the end of the day though the test drive and inspection will be a better bet than guesswork about its past. Given it has all the options it was probably someone's pride and joy and treated with respect... $27k is a fair chunk of money to spend on a car with 180,000 on the clock though.

I'm the same on the KM's being too high for the price!
The engines are rates for 500,000KM but I worry about everything else with that many km's.
I'm not sure what needs to get replaced/checked/inspected with that many KMs but I can try and get the information out of my maintenance schedule book for you if you like.
bumperplates
Moojie, are you in Melbourne?
Moojie
Yeah I am.
Moojie
I do tend to agree with the high kms
I've found a very nice car but in bloody NSW.
bumperplates
I almost bought a Volvo from NSW (I'm in Mlebourne myself) and then after you factor in new registration, additional taxes, roadworthy (which is a must and that's if they don't find anything wrong), additional permit to drive it to VicRoads, then you don't end up on top.
Also factor in airplane costs to get to NSW, and everything else around getting to the car before you drive it back to Melbourne, and the fuel! *gulp*
I found it safer (and cheaper) to buy from within my state.
Moojie
Yeah I've looked into it all. Probably add $2500-$3000 to the price of the car. Pain in the bum, but there seems to be more available interstate. Just take my time I think and wait for the right one.
Agouti
I bought interstate (Vic to NSW) it was about $1000 all up, I drove it home though. Blueslip was $80, $60 for a pre Dawn flight to Melbourne, plus fuel, ctp, rego. Had a friend's to sleep at half way which helped.
I was quoted $700 to have it trucked up, could probably have gotten a better deal too. You could even ask in the Volvo Logistics thread, might be someone wanting to drive something down your way and they could take your car and fly back.
