Funny you should mention that - no! I noticed it this afternoon as the indicator bulb failed.

Not fitted as standard to any of them but definitely a genuine part.
Ive seem two of them before ever.
The genuine part description was 'sump grate' or something similar.

It is just a shitty sticker, I wasn't too keen on it from the start. IIRC the badge isn't perfect underneath but it is quite ok.

It's been a while. Time for some 850 drive-belt love! And a new cabin filter, but then I discovered this 850 lacks a cabin filter so I need to locate a bracket for it.

Do you want to borrow my serpentine belt tool???

(I do need to find it first, but if you need it, I'll be motivated to look for it, so it'll be easily for me to find when I get around to doing mine.)

I already swapped everything over. The new tensioner had a 3/8 size hole. The old tensioner was some proprietary size, so I just cut the old belt off and took it out.

I tensioned it using a ratchet handle, then cable tied the handle to some metal prong to hold it there while I set the belt up.

Car purrs nicely now, no more clak-clak-clak when it's cold. Old belt had hairline splits in it everywhere so clearly on last legs, and old pulley had play. I think the old tensioner was actually okay in the end though.

Watch the rollers and other bits there James , it is always advisable to change all the gear over there as a failure of one partmeans toast for the motor usually.

That's what I did - I replaced the belt, tensioner, and pulley all at once.

Eggsellent. Check thermostat too. Seems the biggest killer of Whiteblocks ....

Thermostats are one of the 'must do' items if youre unsure of when it may have last been done.
I'm going to knock over timing belt and tensioners, water pump serpentine belt and tensions, underdrive pulley, thermostat, coolant bottle and cap and rad hoses all in the one go at some point during the next few weekends.
Then forget about them and live happily ever after.
