Caught up with the EuroSports organisers on the weekend and they're really happy we're coming along.
@carnut1100 couple of busted volvos?
carnut1100
Not so much busted as mothballed....
Current work/family situation means my only vehicle on the road for the next while is the Hilux work ute...

Engine, flywheel, clutch, gearbox and driveline back in. Hopefully I can finish the rest and get the engine broken in before this meet.

Woah! You've been busy.
It's going to get down to the wire getting the 145 ready for the meet but I'm determined to get it done! I wonder how many of us are in the same boat.
I have bushes, shocks and rego inspection to go.
What is everyone else working on for this meet?

A reminder for the July 17 meet in Launceston outside the Automobile Museum. Coffee Van and free entry to the museum.
I will be there with the 145. I will send out a reminder to the non ozvolo folks. We should have a good turnout. I'll keep an eye on the weather forecast and keep this thread updated.
Hope to see you all there! Please pass on reminders to anyone missed.
Cheers, Al.

I can't make it afraid. My son, Fletcher, is having an op in Hobart on the 18th so we'll be travelling to Hobart on the 17th.
volvodriverman
I'm about 50/50 at this stage.
bigal
@brock That sounds like a priority. No worries. Hopefully all is ok with your son.
@volvodriver You can do it! I'm going to motivate you all! I'll buy you a coffee :-)

I am not managing to keep up with Al's efforts ahead of the meet, but finally progress has been made on getting an old volvo there. My preferred transport has been sitting for a couple of months as a garden ornament since I last attempted to drive it and I got a horrendously slipping clutch - somewhat unexpected as it has only done 10K. It turned out to be the routine problem for the early cars of the rear drum brakes being locked on due to sticking wheel cylinders. People are not fond of rear drums for lots of good reasons, but wow, when they are on, the clutch friction is no match for them. My wheels turn again now, so good progress.
Al, I will add the incentive for people to come by saying that I will bring along a single bottle of my recreated "world's oldest beer" for taste testing by anyone who brings along a Volvo to the event. That may even lure a few mainland attendees!

I won't be able to make it unfortunately. I couldn't get the wagon going this weekend. Everything is in but idle is really lumpy. Timing needs to be checked and I won't get time this week. I was keen for a coffee.

Hi All.
I know of a definite 5 that'll be at the meet this Sunday (I'm sure there will be more). I hope that encourages some others to come along. Looking forward to it. There's going to be a good variety too.
The weather forecast for Sunday is Cloudy, Max of 13 and no rain.
Free entry to the museum.
Coffee Van.
And a taste of the "World's Oldest Beer" (I kid you not!).
Cheers, Al.

No go for me either.

See you in the morning to those that can make it. I put new shoes on for the occasion..

Sorry guys I completely forgot about this... How was it?

The late 240 wagon looks great!
bigal
@darcher93 Was great fun.. we were the ones with the bonnets up having a good chat and a poke around. Looking forward to doing it again in 3 months time at the next one. We'll get another meet organised for then.
GingerNinja
Cars look great. I got mine running tonight so definitely keen for the next one.

Arrange a posse from mainland!

I think we've started something down here in Van Diemen's Land.
