I see the NSW system is changing to bring it closer to the VIC system where vehicles can be used for any purpose and a logbook is required limiting number of days on the road. I do like the ability to take my club plated vehicles out whenever I feel like it without club authorisation. Makes club registration much more attractive than club event use only.

I also see that NSW historic vehicles are actually on a conditional registration, rather than unregistered vehicles managed through a separate permit scheme. Highly likely that NSW historic vehicles will be correctly invoiced even if VIC ones aren't.

OK, I can confirm that you do NOT receive an invoice for using toll roads in VIC if you drive on them with a club permit vehicle that is not registered directly with the toll company.

No doubt I would if I did it on a daily basis, but then you can't use a club permit vehicle every day anyway.

Yes, it's great in NSW now, and soon to get better with another scheme allowing cars with modifications.

The change to the current system in Vic made the scheme much more attractive to a lot of people, I have heard that the number of club permit vehicles went from 5000 or so under the old scheme, to about 60,000 now.

As for tolls, Citylink/Eastlink take about three weeks to send out a toll invoice to owners of cars that go through toll points without an E-tag. Cost is about $9, which is an admin fee plus the toll, assuming you only went through one toll point.

How do I know? We don't have an E-tag clip on the windscreen of the Astra, so you have to remember to chuck it on the dash before driving on toll roads, and my wife has forgotten to do that on a couple of occasions.

Or just drive a club permit vehicle - they don't invoice you. It actually doesn't matter how many toll points you go through, as the invoice is a daily use permit, toll points only count for e-tags.

They wouldn't fine you anyway as it is not an offence. They just send an invoice for the toll plus an admin fee for not using a tag or having an existing account with them.

Yep, if you don't pay the toll fee it increases, and if you don't pay the increased fee you get a fine.

I can confirm NSW HCRS plates are processed like regular plates. I have my 244 on my e-tag account and if the e-tag is missing the system scans my plate and bills it to my e-tag account (+ 50 cent no tag fee)

It has been several months since I rode my club registered Norton on Eastlink but I have received a letter stating that my vehicle does not have a valid tolling arrangement, that under law you must have such, that I should contact them to set up such an arrangement and that they will not be seeking retrospective payment for any travel by this vehicle in the past that was not invoiced.
It seems that you are traceable but penalties are not , for some reason, currently imposed.

It was brought to our clubs attention that eastlink and citylink was given access to the cps some time ago.
Just like all police cars now have remote access to our rego/permit details from their cars.
No doubt it's just like when citylink was first activated there was a grace period. We maybe in that now
