Could anybody tell my what cost I would be up for with club rego and is it very restrictive

Must be a member of a related club for more than 12 months

Car must be stock or modified in ways typical of erra

Eg
Converting 81 kjet to twin dcoe is fine
Converting 81 kjet to 1uz is no go

If you wanted to turbo to say reproduce the bathurst race car your fine as lone as ems is also period

Cost for rego and green slip is $50 year
Allows for iirc 60 days of logbook use outside of club days
Expect to be pulled up and finned if you drive it on too many mondays on your way to work

Comprehensive insurance is generally full price

The 12 month thing is not a universal rule. Seems to be a particular bit of obnoxiousness from the NSW Volvo club.

Agree, the clubs I am a member of have no 12 month rule. One has a 3 month rule, the other has no rule on length of membership, other than must be current.

The nsw club also has more influence over the nsw transport minister than the peek motoring body does

There are benefits and downsides to all the clubs

At the moment the nsw club only requires a pink slip to get a historic rego which is frequently easier than having to attend a club day and have your car inspected by someone like me.

I am curious about use of toll roads when on club permits.

I have been told that if you use toll roads without an e-tag, you will not be charged. Not actually tried it yet, but I have verified that the online registration lookup (in VIC anyway) does not include club plates. This suggests that any automated system would struggle to invoice users appropriately.

Anyone know from experience? Like I said, I am curious to know, not necessarily going to use toll roads on any regular basis. here or interstate.

They are linking it. Toll ways pay people $30 an hour to recognise number plates, I'm sure they can look up club reg cars.

Alternatively. Run the risk and get a fine?

May as well test it out for VIC. My research shows Eastlink only costs $6.90 plus the actual toll if they do send an invoice. Cheap way to clear up something I have been wondering about.

Speed cameras have no problem with club registered cars (as a couple of my mates can prove) so I se no reason why the mob that send out toll notices would have any drama either

I was told by someone as second hand info that the toll companies (in VIC anyway) don't handle club permits same as registered vehicles and no invoices are issued if you fail to use a tag or day pass.

I know vicroads manage the club permits separately as it is not actually vehicle registration. It may well be that the cost of a manual process is simply too high for the tiny amount of revenue it would generate the toll companies. It is also quite possible that they do follow up and the info I was given is incorrect/outdated.

Time to test next time I use the motorbike.
Edit: tested, now to wait and see. I went on Eastlink in excellent visibility with number plate clearly visible. As I don't know their invoicing cycles, I shall allow 8 weeks before making any final assessment (less obviously if an invoice arrives in the mail).

In NSW it'll recognise everything. OCR ain't that hard when you have a nice fixed camera and an IR flash.
