The Vocus got through the VicRoads registration process this morning, plates are transferred onto it and all is well.
I can now start thinking about dropping the suspension out of it and get on with the rest of the to-do list.

I'd been debating getting a set of LV Focus XR5 seats to replace mine which are a bit grotty looking, but since I like the grey/dark grey seat colour a little better than they grey/blue seat colour (seats themselves are the same) and it's likely I'll get rid of the stock front seats in future, I've booked in to have seats and carpets steam cleaned this week.

Fingers crossed it comes out well.

Once the dust settles here a bit I'll get back onto a few things on the to do list.

Will do man. I have a few niggles to overcome with mounting in alternatives so it's down on the priority list at the moment, but it'll get to the top eventually.

Did my first little proper drive in it tonight and took it to dinner in Werribee.
Its got a little driveline vibration which I think might be lower torque mount, I'll take a look at that soonish too.
All in all, pretty happy, no cruise control is a killer though.

I dont really know.
I can confirm that the big rear swaybar was - generally speaking - a good move.
You could probably tune out some of the over-twitchy-ness with a toe adjustment.

I'll fit adjustable rear toe arms when I do the suspensions swap, possibly camber arms too but not definitely.
Then a wheel alignment and critique it a bit further.

Really no idea how quick an XR5 is in relation to a WRX,
It feels quick-ish for a stock road car though.

Road noise on coarse-chip bitumen, compared to anything Volvo, is horrendous.

Sound deading and fit/finish of interior plastics.
I drove it from Blackburn when I picked it up, fitted with a different wheel and tyre combo, it was still noisy then too.

The Conti Max Contact is a pretty open cut tyre so probably doesnt help, but it really is that road noise wasnt that much of a priority when new. If I was going to drive it everyday and live with the car, I think I'd do something about it.

No Focus XR5 had cruise as an option.
It feels like a cheapo model inside though - a C30 has a way better interior feel, etc.

The Mondeo XR5 is very underrated and amazingly cheap to buy used, considering drivetrain, tech and other features. Taller gear ratios would make it more pleasant for long trips too.

Mondeo has everything you want, amazingly underrated. Only conventional manual with radar cruise that is easy to find in Australia also

No auto or DCT Mondeo XR5 - manual only. Other Mondeo models - the DCT is the 6 speed rather than the nasty 7 speed dry clutch but still in the long run the conventional auto (earlier models) is safer. Different iterations (MA vs MB vs MC) are rated differently for quality by owners, as usual info is on the forums

You can get leather in the Focus XR5, but that was on my 'do not want' list.
