Done :D Installed. Working awesome. No more power than usual, but power delivery has changed dramatically. Gone from erratic at the best of times boost to constant boosting at 2.5k and up. Good, easy mod. Recommended :)

Obviously very late in the piece and may have been discussed in the pages of this thread but making your own TCV is a piece of cake and cheaper than buying one. plus you get exactly the same solenoid.

They all (IPD, ARD etc) run a mac 3 way solenoid. I rigged my own one up for $60.00 delivered and it works perfectly. I could of done it cheaper but needed to rush it.

This is P2 anyway, I have no experience before the 01.

Well copy cat me, all my parts for this are now here, ended getting a bunch of the ev1 and GM connectors from a contact so will make up a few sets of 'looms' if there is interest. Installation is probably a Monday day off job i think.

Result? Quick & better boost building, control of boost seems quicker to react to rev changes. Very happy.

Might also help that I did cbv and actuator as well...

I can confirm that the MAC solenoids work well on p80 cars also.

Just keep in mind that the different MAC models have different port layouts, so beware when connecting them up. You can always blow through the valve to check which way it flows, but should flow from the compressor to the wastegate when no power is supplied. If you get it wrong you can kill your engine.
