UPDATE! Hey guys, its been a while since Ive updated this thread, but recently ive worked on the car and got some things done.
First thing...IT RUNS AND DRIVES! I purchased and installed a new battery with the help of my dad and the car started up first go no worries. Power windows work, power antennae, window wiper (and their different increments of speed), air con blows (haven't checked temperatures).
The brakes work as does the steering. The car has abit of front and back roll from what I gathered in the 5 metres of driveway that I used.
The horn does not work. My mate came over today and we tried to figure it out. He got it blowing to the touch of the button, but it also blows sometimes when I turn the wheel without touching the bottom. Remember, it has an aftermarket steering wheel. Chances are that the wires are grounding themselves inside the hub.
After a closer inspection of the rear left hand side, I believe from the makeup of the metal and the peeling of the paint, that the car had an impact on that corner previous to my ownership. Hence the surface rust. We removed the tailight (which was far newer than the right hand side) by slicing through the (unoriginal) silicone sealant with a knife.
Here is what I got up to before removing the light

After
I removed the rear bumper so I could get to the harder places where there was slight surface rust. Here is a closer look.
Probably didnt need to go through so much to get off a little bit of surface rust, but definitely I feel like it was worth it because I started finding little bits and pieces under the paint that were starting to rust. I went to supercheap and purchased etch primer, metal filler, a rattle can of 400 code paint, and a can of clear coat. I put some plastic bags over it to cover it for tonight, and I will have a go at working on it some more tomorrow.
So far, been learning alot. Feels good to get down and dirty with the old girl.
PS. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GET THE DAMN BATTERY CLAMP BACK ON. Might have something to do with the battery being slightly differently shaped, but for the most part it looks very similar to the old one. Will get some more pics tomorrow.
Also, the air intake hose was not mounted onto what Im assuming was the intake hole next to the housing of the headlight. I tried prying it back on, so now it sits there kind of loosely. Is that the correct position?
