This is the 15g that came off had no shaft play. The 16t that's on there has no shaft play either. It's doing my head in
850R whining noise
(ive been trying to post this for days now, im having issues with posting on some threads from iOS safari)
Any thoughts on it being the auto or torque converter? That's usally my go to for wining when under load. Especially at stationary take off

My vote goes to the transmission.
I would prefer it to be transmission as I will do a manual conversion soon :) I did a drain and refill but there is still some noise left
Any change in the noise after the flush?
I think the loud whine when it's cold might have decreased. I need to have to have another good listen
My turbo started to howl before it died, very strange sound that is
Reminds me of the 1st gear whine these auto boxes make, except that it hangs around after she shifts
My money would be in the box, but thats only a guess

My S40 T4 makes that exact same noise. The pitch changes in time with the boost kicking in, so I've been assuming it's just part of the T4 experience, although my T5's don't make that sound or anything like it. I once had a car where fitting a type of suppressor into the wiring for the stereo put an end to a similar noise.
Will put the T4 into Berry next week for service so I'll ask Mark to have it checked out.

He will sell you another car ....
Hasn't tried to yet, although it's only Tuesday. I did just accidentally buy a 240 at auction this evening, so I'm keeping some semblance of consistency;)
