Snoopy- I am actually in Sydney and would love to know if there are good Volvo mechanics that I could turn to if something goes wrong. I have heard only good about the ones you mentioned in Melbourne.

Avoid the dam Xc70 and find something else
Or buy a Xc70 with a dead trans and low km for $800 and then invest $6k into a new trans and it should be fine for a while

It's not just the trans though
The Xc70s kill front a arm bushings and upper strut and spring mounts
The pcv system will need doing
The spark plugs Probobly have never been done or been done using non volvo plugs

The coils fail frequently

The timing belt and water pump and tensioners will need doing

The vvt solenoid is always on its way out

The awd system is shit at best
The Xc70 never got the good gen3 Haldex system

It gets even worse after all of that by the way

I have still decided to go with the dealer xc70 with 151ks on it. I will be servicing it and also trying to get the software updates done by Lupica. There is a high chance of regretting my decision to buy it, but I guess I am too stubborn and will have to learn from it if the service will uncover major issues.

Thanks to you I know what will need replacing/ fixing soon or in the future.
There are quite a few cosmetic issues inside the car, but nothing major. At the moment the car seems to run fine, but I won't be using it much until the servicing has been done.

Was listed 5900, but because the radio(no sound) was not working and the low beam light bulb needed to be replaced offered 5500 and got it for that.

oooh , a bit rich for it i am imho. Esp with rough interior and no service since 2012? I dont know much about the interior bits but the radio sounds like a big job . Are you able to do work yourself?

It was actually serviced last in 2014(Mona Vale Micro Mechanics,-sticker on the windshield) and next time to be serviced when it would hit 155ks. So it was not as bad as I initially thought, but the mechanic will uncover more in regards to what has been done and whats not. The radio can wait and I don't mind much. I can do some basics jobs on the car, but I would have to get to know the car a bit better.
Interior damage- Front leather seat slashed, side a bit loose. I can post some photos up later on.

At least it's a post-facelift one.

Make sure you do the timing belt and flush the auto asap. Also if you polish those headlights they will come up clear and look 100x better.

We have been happy with our MY05. IPD rear sway bay and xc90 rims with RE003 tyres have made a world of difference.

I have no idea how that could have happen, but it doesn't surprise me as the last owners have obviously not been kind to the car.

These will be first on the list, as there are no stickers stating a Timing Belt change has ever been done and just because of the gremlins with the auto boxes. At the moment I don't use the car almost at all and would take it straight to the mechanic.

All other cosmetic issues (although I will give the headlights a nice polish) and also the radio issue will be fixed in time. What are the chances of finding a new drivers seat for the car?

Philia Bear- That would be great as the original seat hurts me when I try to get out ( has sort of a sharp plastic pieces exposed). I would not mind if one of the seats has a different colour, it would actually be pretty cool, like a special drivers chair :D Where are you located?

Do you know if the engine on this one (2.5T) is an interference or non-interference one?

Thanks :) My concern is just for the timing belt at this moment, because I need to drive it around the day before my mechanic. It has done 151k, but no stickers to show it has been changed. Will do more look around the engine tomorrow as well to see if its perhaps more hidden, but i'm not holding my breath.

Snoopy- Only the area around the drivers seat is damaged and loose (there seems to be pieces missing :O). I'm not sure how hard or easy it would be to install/ replace all that. All other seats are in good enough condition and hopefully I wont find any other issues with the interior. :)
