If the hinge is not broken, just worn in the usual way, they can be repaired. You need an end mill and an ability to mount the hinge securely, a mill is perfect but a drill press will work. A drill won't work as it will drill the hole off centre aligned with the worn oval holes. After recentering the holes, either fit an oversized hinge pin that you make from stainless rod, or make a couple of bronze bushes to fit to the holes and refit the hinge. If you have the tools and time it does save money if you have the will. 240 parts are increasing obselete or expensive proportional to car value, so I think that the old repair methods may make a comeback for some people.
