Name this shop, who returned a car to a client in worse condition than how it arrived to them.
If you've lost cluster lighting, they have monumentally stuffed it up.
If you'd lost speed impulses from the diff sensor, you'd also have an intermittent very high idle and a lost VSS fault code from the ECU.
If the speedo started working again after a dash thump, that suggests either a poor electrical connection a the speedo end, or a mechanical problem with the speedo gear.
When the speedo stopped working, did the odometer and trip counter keep ticking over?
* If so, the VSS signal from the diff is okay and suggests there's a problem with the speedo.
* If the odo stopped too, there's a problem with the speedo wiring - earth, power, or signal.
What is the number printed in black ink on the bottom of the cluster? (The date of manufacture is also there too).
