I’ve not looked into it for ages so don’t have any suggestions … but I bought a cruise-control stalk for a late 240 which I fitted to the car, and when looking into it 20+ years ago there were a few aftermarket systems which could accept the controls from the OEM stalk. And aftermarket had better control than OEM for the cruise system itself, at the time, being newer.
So if you’d like to use the factory-looking stalk, check it’s electrical connections, and how an aftermarket system can accept a speed signal. You may just need to wire into the plug that hoes into the back of your speedo.
OEM may be easier if you can find one, but I suspect relatively rare in Oz.
A big advantage of aftermarket is the ability to use something completely electric, and not need to worry about vacuum hoses (or leaks).
