The vehicle is unregistered and last time it was advertised he wanted $850. It's been sitting around for since 2012 on a property not doing much. I'm not sure it's even been under cover so I don't know what to expect regarding the trim etc. I know what can happen as Inga needed a fair bit of TLC to get her looking good. For example I had the headliner replaced and even finding someone to work on one with a sunroof was difficult.

Eh, a turbo 740 for $850 is good value, unless it's a total junker. I see complete 7/9 interiors on eBay for only a couple hundred from time to time. Never a black leather wagon interior though.

Well he had 4 complete and one for parts but I don't know yet how many he has left. There was even a 760 Turbo there.

The gold one usually came with the tan interior and that's the one I want. Of course I might want to scavenge parts from some of the others. I'd invite you along but I gather you're in Sydney.

O&D, if you weren't happy with Matt from Canberra's one, I'm not sure how happy you could possibly be with an $850 one from a paddock...

Well, it wasn't a question of happy as Matt wasn't even sure he was going to sell (has he put it up for sale?). At the time I couldn't have afforded the $3,000 he was talking about as we were saving for a USA trip.

I'm now at a point where I could afford to start another restore having done a lot to my 740GLE and still want to get a turbo one. The "one in the paddock" may well be a total junker but I still want to see it and the others he has. Even if all I do is take lots of pics and post there here in case others might be interested.

I had a look on ebay again as I have thought about using an rs500 intercooler, its strange a carthat a lot less has easily available intercoolers but not the rwd turbo volvos! It would be on the big side but a 400x400x76 core would fit alright actually. About $200 for them.

That rs500 looks about the right size but how would it mount? Looks like some fabrication might be in order. Also how do you know it's better than the stock one? Is there some sort of rating system for intercoolers? I know some I saw for sale on Ebay looked a lot smaller than the Volvo one.

I am in Sydney. You're near Brisbane right? If he has a mint tan leather driver's seat for a 740 lying around, let me know. I will have to drive up there sooner or later to see my gramps.

Well, if he has a "mint" tan leather driver's seat I'll be snapping it up.

I'm on the gold Coast. I may be going to a wreckers to see about some sway bars this week so I'll have a look there for you.

Getting a perfect leather seat for a 740 Volvo is nigh on impossible as that's the seat that's always used and very few people looked after them. The one in Inga is pretty good but you don't see it as I have installed lambswool car seat covers on the front seats. I had the driver's seat repacked when the guy did the head liner.

The rs500 intercooler is 200mm too wide to just fit in place of the stock intercooler. They aren't cheap either.

Pretty much the ebay ones are all bar and plate and have proven to flow well enough, and a 400x400x76 is not as big in length but is 3x thicker than stock a allowing more cooling.

Well what model is usually used to upgrade the stock one?

I've researching on the net but a lot of the ones are set up for racing more than street driving and I wonder how good an upgrade it would be if the stock one copes well anyway.

Most done here are 600x400 which take more work to make fit with air con..... stock one is fine in general with stock turbo.
