Cracked head 2011 v70 T6

Volvo dealership quoted around $6k to send off to fix crack near exhaust manifold. Very slow leak and no overheating or other signs of a problem. Car running perfect but oil smell Made me get it checked.

Am going ahead with fix but the say machinist might decide head can’t be repaired then new head around $5k from Volvo. Is there any other options for me. I love this car. Fone other bits and performance things to it and owned since new always 5000 km oil change and immaculate smooth running all

Or it’s 110km. Is it time to give up on it.

Thanks for the thread. Do you know a good wrecker/parts outlet to try and source replacement head cheaper than Volvo $5k?

Whereabouts are you located? Have you tried any of the local Volvo independent workshops in your area (if any)?

I’m in Sydney. Northern beaches.

I notice brand new head from Volvo Melbourne is on special at the moment reduced from $4200 to$ 3700. Bargain? 😂

I have a used head from a 2009 XC60 T6 with 1145km on the clock so it's like new.

How much do you want for it. Is it too much trouble to asK for some pics. Assuming you want to part with it. It would be a big help for me. Stop Me walking away from mine. I’m already upto $6000 at the dealership finding issue. Taking everything apart and ordering new valves etc snd preparing to ship

To machinist. But then he cautions that cracks on these engines are often beginning of the end of the head. Not worth fixing.

Peter arm Just a side note. I would love a T6 v70. I didn't know they existed till recently. My wife 3.2 xc70 is great to drive but imagine a v70 would be better.

Awesome cars. Just so practical and comfortable and safe and deceptively quick when tweaked a little. I owned a b8 Audi rs4 wagon for a year and while not as quick or handle as well. It’s a better all rounder.
