Howdy folks, just putting a few feelers out from across the pond…
Much to my frustration the threads for my intermediate shaft are stripped. About a year ago I had to get a broken off bolt drilled out. Machine shop did that and used a helicoil. Revisiting my engine again lately, I mis-remembered the bolt and ended up pulling the helicoil out, tried putting it back in and ended up wrecking all of the thread in it. (yes I feel INCREDIBLY stupid)
I've considered taking it to the machine shop again and having them drill it out to the next size bolt, but they will absolutely not make that cheap, and there's no guarantee they'll even be willing to.
So I've been looking for alternative options in terms of sourcing a good used one, the volvo community here in New Zealand doesn't seem to have any. I could touch base with a group over in the land of the yanks, but American shipping tends to cost my entire soul and is quite often slow as balls…
My best option is touching base with my Ozzie brother's here, is anyone holding onto/willing to part with an intermediate shaft (with the dizzy gear) and willing to get it sent over here? Depending on what shipping between us is like for this I could offer an intermediate that does NOT have the dizzy gear
