ben_favotto G'day everyone, I'm intending for an overhaul of my M46 gearbox in my 240. Recently, the gears between 1st & 2nd have a nasty grind, and I think the gearbox overall is due for a big service. Would anyone know where I could source syncros and bearings for this job? I'd prefer to find parts new, but open to all suggestions. I was going to give Berry Group a call on Monday to see there, but wanted to know if there was anywhere else people recommend. Thanks!
ben_favotto jamesinc Awesome, I've just checked Skandix and looks to be good. I am going to ask a rookie question though . Skandix only sells one synchroniser ring (product number: 1001128), my understanding is I would need to get 3 of these rings (1 for each in between gears). Is that correct?
Major Ledfoot ben_favotto my understanding is I would need to get 3 of these rings (1 for each in between gears). Is that correct? Nope. According to the book, you need 4. (p/n 1232616-1 is Skandix 1001128) Part of Drawing 69012 from the 900 95+ parts book for the M46 - look for [30] -
Phoenix eVolv ben_favotto I can help with the synchro rings. VOLVO genuine. LIST $65, but I'll do an OzVolvo Discount. Gimme a buzz 0410 658 967. Hoping to have the Phoenix eVolv website up before Nat's to make it easier for all. Cheers, Ashley
ben_favotto Major Ledfoot Thanks for the clarification. Is there a digital copy of this parts book? I've never seen it before and seems like a pretty valuable asset to have.
Major Ledfoot ben_favotto The Oz Volvo Tech Archive has plenty of parts manuals and Green Books. https://ozvolvo.org/archive/archive.php Only trouble with the 240 75-78 and 79-84 parts books is how the ones we have are in Deutsche / Swedish, not the usual English / Swedish versions. But the 240 85-87 and 88-93 parts books are the English / Swedish versions, so if you look up the later books for the part name in Swedish, you can search for that word in the 75-78 or 79-84 books (that's what I do).
dmc Regarding the parts books, gcp now have them all online. Go to gcp.se, switch to English, then 'Catalog'. Lots of parts books to choose from.
