960 rear suspension

Hi there, looking to replace the suspension in a 960 with the same "single composite leaf spring used in the rear suspension of the 960 estate", according to Volvo fans on wikipedia. I just read in this forum that there is a wrecker's at Marulan, is that right? Is the estate suspension different to a sedan?

960driver The IRS in 95+ 960 wagons / V90s (less than 50 of them officially in OZ) layout is the same.

The fibreglass leaf spring is different in sedan and wagons.

The VIN & code plate under the bonnet has the car's suspension code showing the part numbers of the shocks, struts, and springs.

See the Volvo Pocket Data Book for the part numbers, these codes aren't in the parts book.

Mods - perhaps these 2 posts deserve its own topic? Neither post is about parts suppliers.

OP, if you want more info about the single leaf spring type IRS (aka IRS 2), check out the 900 94+ parts book, starting at Group 65, page 1145 for the 95+ version of IRS.

^ The leaf used in the wagons is a firmer rate than the sedans. Like 244 and 245 rear springs.

But the OP isn't gonna find any 965 / V90 leaf springs in OZ (because ₅₀ total 900 wagons officially imported to OZ).

And the 960 ultra rare limited slip diff centre is also in the complicated category.

Anthony The IRS 2 limited slip centre is one of those things with a centrifugally-operated locking pawl, IIRC, so not really a true LSD. I don't know if 1041 LSD centres will fit in them.

That would be an Eaton G80 ALD (automatic locking differential). As used in the live axles of 740s and 940s
