looking good
17" wheels on an R with its lowered springs means it tracks the road imperfections all the time esp inder power. Try it going back to 3rd gear ( my manual wagon....) boosting hard up to 120-130 on wrong side of road on our great Princes Hwy and shit yerself as it takes two hands to stay on the road....
You really need all the bushes sorted , strut brace and really good tyres but more importantly , find a wheel aligner that can do proper work to the rear end ( which most wont touch , they reckon not adjustable....) AND do the front so its more stable on rough roads.
get Kaplhenke LCA bushes too....
THIS is why i go AWD - RV70....
Scary stuff....
and my R was low mileage and well looked after , its the nature of power>FWD can handle.
Today was a good day
New glass & brakes arrived!!!

Awwww yiss

Cant deal... too fresh

Obligatory banana for scale

National windscreens did the glass, I paid $195 for it. Dan was on-time, efficient and did a great job keeping everything neat and tidy, even vacuumed out my cowling too!

Next up - Brake lines, seals and a RWC

love my cowling getting sucked out!
dont tell Mark this guy does it!
Had Glenn from Get Detailed come see the R today, there's hope for the paint yet - AND he rekons it sustainable!

All going well, Ill have him do a FULL detail in the coming months
Lots of waxing after that....
Hours of your life lost....

Rego paid and transferred... This week has been expensive

But its finally on the road!!!!!
Awesome! One more R on the road
Does that mean it doesn't get touched and the 250 can start? :p
Pretty much Alex!
Im doing a full service on it, it needs all of the usual tune up items and thats it!
Today was cold... Decided that heated seats (or at least the drivers seat) should do just that...

Pulled the beast out

Dont pretend that I cant see you

Continuity on both pads was A-OK!

Solder dat biach back on

Great time for a clean!

Oh great... Its that time isnt it

Repair status? Success!!!!

Next up... Heater core -_-
Yep. Just like my 740 is... Rip up the carpet and sound deadening asap
The car had been running all day and it was dry... I will take precautionary measures though
heater core is a simple job in the 850 1/2 hour tops.
Yep , easy job.
Pull up carpet and wash it?
Yeah, Its not bad at all
I did one in my V70 (Which is for SALE) and it was so much easier than I thought
You can do a seat of mine!
Hey , did you have a RHS c70 door skin?
I went easy on his RWC so all good, one more R on the road, DOES anyone want to rescue another manual R?????
Is the manual R a wagon ?
I fear you may be right Mark haha
New brakes and seals next week :D

*Update*

Got some parts together for some maintenance

Replaced:
Plugs
Cap & Rotor
Leads
Front cam seal
Cam sensor
TCV 4 times -_-
Vacuum lines to TCV with Silicone hotness
Rebuilt ABS Motor leads

Before working on the car she boosted 100%, would cout out boost occasionally, though it was a TCV issue (It wasnt and still dont know)

Snazzy

Ive seen worse (No more misfires!)

What in the name of god...

Hmmmm

No, I will not be rebuilding these for people

12 Gauge silicone wire greatness

Awww yiss

CPS Decided it didnt want to CPS anymore
It met its fate hurtling at a brick wall at well over warp speed

So!
Whats new?, well im fairly certain the turbo is blown and ive lost about 75% of boost since working on the car 3 days ago, maybe I upset it - I do recall turning the blades by hand and noticing how hard it was to get it going

I have a heatercore, speedo bulbs, new heater lines and a full PCV kit to go into her. She will also be cut and polished tomorrow after work and have all of her fluids drained and refilled before Thursday.

Im planning to use the turbo from my C70 parts pig as a donor to get her running again, the 16t should have a bit longer legs over the 15g and has less than half the kms on her. i have no idea why it would have failed after a service, maybe it ingested a bit too much degreaser ><

Cut and polish!! Done by ME & MY FRIENDS

#nofilter

SO RED

Awww yisss

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand a turbo

Out with the old and grimey!

In with the not so old and grimey

I used the 16T CHRA and comp housing mated to the 15G Exhaust housing, the locating dowel had been machined/ground off??? That made lining things up less than fun

Apparently this is normal?

No more greasy fenders

Blarghh

Turbo water lines

PCV Take #1

Yup

I made a rookie mistake...

I appear to be missing some bulbs...

Heat gunned the trim

Thats better

Its that time!

And to finish off - sort of

So I still have a boost leak, only seem to be making around 6 psi, sometimes it will come back for a moment or two - Ive also lost the beautiful R Growl sound, which I cant live without

Coming up!

- Rear brakes
- Refit dash pad
- Repair passenger heated seat
- Replace stock tweeters that turned to dust
- Refit spoiler and door trims
- WAXXX

Thanks to all that Voted for me at the National meet!

I decided to do all of the detailing work myself, felt it was a good skill to have as the 240 is looking a little pink these days, and single stage can look amazing with a little love (Or in this case a LOT)

Here are a few pics of her & her friends at the National meet this year

She won best P80!!!

In Canberra on the way home

Found a friend at the servo too!
Julian - I've been busy with work and travel...
Just scrolled through this thread catching up on things.
Well done!

Trent
exceptionally tidy car, you should be proud.
Thanks all for the kind words :)
The plan now is to sort out the boost problem, fix the passenger heated seat, wax the hell out of it and stack as many kms as I can on her

When that is done, efforts will go back into getting the 240 done - which hopefully should be in the next 6 months
Julian , I used Autoglym products on mine , came up a treat and is staying that way . Have the new bonnet to do on the weekend. I used the Super resin Polish then did the Extra Gloss Protection . I did my other vehicle as well which is a dark metallic grey , best shine it's ever had .
I used most of the Meguiars compounds, Ultimate cut (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED), Polish & Carnuba wax & Their basic Dual action polisher, she is still looking pretty good, only our tough summer will prove if it will hold up or not.

My Tensioner is beginning to make a bit of noise, might que that up for next

Common issue. Not a difficult thing to replace.
I did all mine in one hit, more so that I dont need to think about it again -
* timing belt
* all timing belt tensioners/rollers
* water pump
* power steering rack
* power steering pump
* serpentine belt
* serpentine belt tensioner

I'm up for A/C regassing now too though as it only barely blows cool.
Mine too. Or maybe its one of the other pulley bearings on the serpentine belt. Just haven't pin pointed it yet. I guess they may as well all get renewed, along with the belt!

Swapped out MAFs today

Missed a little at idle (When freshly installed, probably because the MAF was filthy)
Fuel consumption reduced
Getting about 10 PSI now :D

Will order a NEW MAF soon

Did a few hours of driving today & boy do I love this thing

Next up is:

Replace fuel line clips (Hanging a little low :S)
320mm Brake conversion
New speakers
Replace serpentine tensioner
ABS Module & Pump motor
Tune
Rear bumper skin
Skids
Trackday bro

MAFs usually throw codes. Plugs and HT leads good?
No codes at all
Plugs, cap, rotor & leads are all 2000 kms/8 weeks old
My Maf threw codes. Spark issues did not

Re the abs ...2 common issues. The relay solder joints on the module and the the failing insulation on the pump motor. both can be fixed with non replacement of the units.
Any friend with a basic electronics knowledge can fix this for you.
