I’m working on my 1976 242 K-Jet. Is there a control pressure regulator valve on this fuel dist? I can’t seem to find it. I see the 4 lines going to my injectors, the line going to my CPR and fuel return.

It must not have one then.

What are you trying to find and why?

ramrod I’m trying to find that valve to replace the o ring on it if my fuel dist even has one to begin with. Have been chasing issues with what I think is related to my kjet system

      Describe the issues.

Number one: have you carried out a fuel pressure test?

When did these issues start? What work has been done already? Engine firing on all pistons?

Give some background to what you’re experiencing, every piece of information will help us help you

Nammy the control pressure regulator is the valve. It bleeds system pressure from the feed line to the return line in order to set the control pressure in the fuel distributor.

You might be thinking of the rest pressure valve, there's a hex bolt on the side of the fuel distributor, if you remove that, inside you will find a spring loaded valve and some shims, including an o-ring IIRC. That valve's purpose is to hold some pressure in the system (rest pressure) when the engine is off.

I would advise against removing it with the fuel distributor in-situ, the parts are really small and easy to lose, you'd want to get it on the bench first.

I’ve not done a fuel pressure test, I know that’s the first thing I should do..

I have to crank the car about 2-3 times for it to start, warm and cold. I also noticed a bit of hesitation when I’m in first gear, when I’m giving it gas to go into 2nd the car seems like it’s going to die if I don’t give it enough gas.

I’ve replaced most of the fuel system, both internal and external pumps, fuel accumulator, fuel filter, new NOS CPR, fuel injectors, intake manifold gasket, throttle body gasket.

jamesinc that’s probably what it is. Doesn’t look like I need to remove much more to get the fuel dist out. Looks like I need to remove the fuel injector lines, lines to the CPR and the line leading to the fuel filter

You need to check fuel pressure.

Carrying out repairs and making adjustments on the k-jet fuel system without it is like taking a shot in the dark.

It’s impossible to know what you’re doing

ramrod I’ve reached out to some people in the Vancouver/Portland area to see if someone has a tester that I can borrow! I need to just quit overlooking that step and do the right diagnose

              Nammy Vancouver/Portland area

Is this a B21F engine (US and CAN)? If so, note how there's different versions of the B21F in Nth America for the federal US and California.

OZ market got B21E with EGR and no Lambda Sond or cats.

Factory K-Jet Green books are in the Oz Volvo Tech Archive.

ramrod I’ve ordered a C.I.S K jet fuel pressure tester from Amazon, got a used one that was like $60 dollars vs a brand new one. Gets here next week so I’ll do some more accurate tests. Will report back then!
