morch_66479 A few more little updates, more parts arrived from GCP to sort out more little details. The other big job on the To Do list is to replace the rear main seal. I was under the impression that the entire engine and box would need to be dropped and thought it would be a good time to install this japanifold i picked up but just found out the engine isn't being dropped. Need to figure out how awkward of a job it would be to replace with engine intact? Anybody ever done it before? GCP items: More Resin 3D printing of NLA parts - door lock bushes and wiper shaft covers. Not sure of the long term durability of these parts but happy to print and sell some on if anybody needs? It took some time to get the resin mixture correct to have enough flexibility etc. Side trim removal - degrease, wash, polish.... that's better!! I discovered more excess wiring in the ceiling, it was scotch clipped into the rear boot light harness and ran up above the RR door. No idea what it was used for as it just came to a dead end. Not a bad sight to wake up to in the morning!! haha
Johnno_ Always a highlight for me ….."What has Morch done this week?" A little bit of sunchronicity, I just noticed this morning that the V40 "orange bits" had faded down to that weird.shade of pink. Might have to get some of these for the next Skandix bulk order.
morch_66479 242GT are they for an R or T-5R because apparently they're slightly different? Mine were also new - nkcetouch
morch_66479 HEATED SEATS: My front heated seat stopped working so I had a quick look underneath to discover that the 2 wires lead to the heated seat pads had snapped off. Assuming from all the years of moving the set back and forth. I temporarily repaired it but ideally would like to come across a new (NOS) harness. This temporary fix doesn't seem to work and neither does my passenger heated seat 😔 I also had issues with the memory function on my seat. But that turned out to be a loose connector - fixed I also stumbled across a rear heated seat kit in the UK. I reached out to the seller first and went to bed shortly after. I woke up in the morning and the seller had sold it to someone else even though I was first to express interest. I've lost out on a few items like this now 😭😭😭😭😭 Does good karma exist? 😣
rado morch_66479 I just flicked through my thread and page 212 my drivers seat heater stopped working, maybe a broken wire connection at the rear underneath.
morch_66479 rado Just read your post now, Is the thermostat polarity sensitive? Mine seems to be working again – tested this morning on a cold journey to work 😊
rado Oh.... yep I noticed that rear heated seats for sale as well . I bet he received many PM's regarding that .
morch_66479 EXTERIOR CLEANING Continued: I previously cleaned the left side of my engine bay so thought i;d treat the right side too. The single stage paint seems to hold onto a lot of dust/dirt even after using Multi Purpose Cleaner etc. So to lift this dirt out i used a Menzerna polish and multiple micro fiber rags. This worked a treat. Other items cleaned: removed and replaced under hood silencer as i had previously marked mine degreased/polished under hood, roof gutters and replaced and clips. wet sanded and staining off my glass during the process - using 3000 grit paper. Wouldn't it be nice to treat it to some dry ice blasting.
morch_66479 C70 ROOF RAIL INSTALL From owning a few 240 wagon's over the years, my eyes are just so used of seeing roof rails so I got some from a later model 70 series that have the updated design on the trim that runs down either side of the window. The new design allows the water to be captured by a little gutter that directs the water over the roof rather than across the front driver & passenger windows like on the original 850 trims. Volvo did bring out an accessory that attaches to either side of the 850 windscreen to capture the water but then later integrated the design into the 70 series trim. Struggling to find a picture of this accessory though. Parked outside Monash Prestige, awaiting a new rear main seal and PCV kit, rear spoiler removed to clean, paint hardware and readjust fitment:
rado I've never noticed tbh that your car didn't have roof rails . Do look better with them but , going through this thread I'm liking the smooth look without them ..volvo blasphemy I know 🤔
morch_66479 DASH PAD: I found a dash pad at a local wreckers, much cleaner than my original and the tab to the left of the central vents was still intact. My original tab had broken and someone had put a fist full of silicone & hot glue to keep things together. I spent 1.5hrs cleaning this mess 😩😅 I also used Volvo's anti rattle tape to replace any damaged tape
morch_66479 REEFTON SPUR LOOP: Most noticeable difference on this trip was the subframe bush inserts I 3D printed a while back really tightened it up in the corners. A strut brace and big brake kit is next on the list 😁
