Just picked up a turbosmart electronic boost controller from repco, rrp$599 for$ 210 on special. That's a he'll of a saving.

@Volski you need a specific answer per-car really, it's going to depend on engine etc.
A lot of newer cars will shut the fun down if they detect more boost than the ECU allows and most boost controllers work by solely adjusting the turbo waste-gate to control how much boost the turbo pushes (ie. they don't try to trick the ECU) ... there are smart people 'round here who know things though, what engine's in your C30?

I got the B5254t7, i have installed bleed of valves (think thats what they are call) on my old japers and was and easy and cheap upgrade with good gains, but was under the impression these dont work like u said,

After quickly Googling around, I think the C30 T5 ECU controls the factory boost-control valve ... unsure whether all ECU functions are available to tuners, but I'd probably be asking whether a tune can increase your boost by itself (although a controller can bring on boost more quickly - sometimes).

I wasn't intending on buying a boost controller this week, but here we are. I purchased from Melton store online yesterday and have it in my hands today.. which I wasn't expecting. It seems I got the last one from that store and it seems difficult to find stores that have stock with their system. That said, by punching in a random postcode I found that Pimpama, QLD has stock available for delivery still at the time of writing. I felt bad for taking the 'last one' but it appears some stores still have stock.

I think the unit in each store is part of consignment stock hence they only hold one in each store.

Hope this is not too off subject , I am fitting the e boost controller at the moment to my v70 t6 but not too sure of the hoses going to factory boost controller solenoid. One has a green stripe, one has blue paint, the third is unmarked. Can anybody identify the one going to the turbo, the other going to waste gate, I believe the third is vented to atmosphere. I can not get to the turbo, arthritis has got me beat. You young blokes look after your yourself before it's too late.

trevingle45_ stop what you're attempting as it won't work.

If the ecu sees boost above the programmed desired target level, it will limit throttle to prevent engine damage.

You need a tune or a plug in TDI box at the very least

Thanks for that. However it doesn't adress my query, I wish to know the purpose of each hose. And yes I do have a tune to come as soon as I can get dino time organised.

I can’t answer the question … but could the standard boost control valve manage the increased boost levels that the ECU tune will allow?

I intend to use e boost controller in place of factory unit. The default boost is 10 psi, however later versions of t6, rtype?????, we're set to 17.4 psi. I am advised the ecu will recognise change and recalibrate to suit, given it has polestar installed.. I just would like to confirm functions of piping to factory tbc.

Also does anybody know which pin in obd supplies revs info to codes reader?

You can't replace the factory turbo control solenoid with a boost controller, modern ecus are far too smart for that.

Also all the sensor data from the ecu (rpm,coolant temp etc) is sent via a can bus, there's not a specific pin to get an rpm signal from, and you could damage the electrical components if your try.

I don’t know these specific ECU’s at all … but unless it’s entirely weird, the ECU controls the boost, not the valve or anything in the valve.

Hence me suspecting that any ECU reprogramming that is mapped to higher boost will also control the standard valve to allow higher boost; and making installation of an aftermarket valve irrelevant.
