Custom windscreen in Australia

Does anyone know who might do custom windscreens locally?

I am fighting Shannon's about a 262C windscreen (still, after 3 years) and struggling to get any logic out of them regarding shipping.

The best option I can think of is a locally produced custom screen.

Any experiences appreciated.

There is / was a place in Brisbane a few years ago which was saved from going out of business when folks realised it was the one of the few (or only!) place in OZ who made classic car laminated windscreens, or custom screen glass to order.

I can't for the life of me remember the name of this business. Does this story ring any bells with anyone?

Guess you've already tried Berry's and they've said nay. But Mark told me he got a new screen for his fire-damaged P1800 from Windscreens O'Brian, so who knows if they have a line on screens for a 262C.

Have you tried calling Autoglass warehouse in Queensland? They have stock not listed on their website. Proved a handy source of Amazon screens a few years ago.

Yes.

Vindruta means windscreen.

@Forg Generally yes, the A pillars were raked backwards and the roof lowered. once this was done the windscreen needed to be taller, hence the different screen.

@940Person Just tried Autoglass Warehouse and they are nil stock, their suppliers are also nil stock.

Annoyingly there was one at Voldat though when it was pulled out it was cracked due to something leaning on it for several years.

Skandix appear to have a stock of 3 tinted screens (1248917) for EUR 418.71, but the problem is shipping - specifically, getting them to ship glass. (They had a great deal on P1800 screens a while back, but said they wouldn't ship glass to OZ, or at least outside the EU. Guess if you explain the situation, they might.... but it won't be cheap).

volvopartswebstore doesn't give a price (says it's a 'classic part').

GCP says 'discontinued', so no luck there.

Skandix so far are the best option, though shipping is tough. I have a company ready to pick it up from Skandix and air freight it though the insurer will not pay for air freight, only surface (land and sea). And I cannot find anyone to ship via surface so far. The saga continues.

dmc Engaging some google-fu, it appears the Pack & Send chain will do shipping from .de to .au via sea freight.

Is there a huge difference between non-urgent air freight and surface freight costs?

Do you have a quote for a pickup from Skandix and air freight to MEL? (I'd be tempted to put a pair of P1800 screens and a spare 780 screen together with your 262C screen and share the air freight costs if they're not stratospheric - pardon the pun).

I will chase the sea freight tomorrow and see where it leads (or sea :-) So far insurance for sea freight is not available as there is an expectation it will break along the way, hence only air freight is available.

You will be kept in the loop, I was thinking of getting two screens for the 262, just in case.
