Today I get the warm and Fuzzies from a new fuzzy glovebox!
Old casing had a noticeable droop, lost a lot of fuzz, all four x corner mounting points were broken off and something weird growing in the back RHS corner..
Uninstall the entire box only three(?) screws holding it in. Carefully drift out the old metal pins.
Wipe off some goo and carefully remove the side stays.
Bit of silicon spray for the latch mechanism.
The new fuzzy box!
I drifted the pins in but the side stays would not slot in….. so had to drift them out again. Then slotted the stays in, and installed the pins again. Gently with a plastic hammer.
Love heart from someone in its 38 year history in the vanity mirror made my morning.
Off to Repco to get some suitable screws and she's ready to go in.
Install the 2W glovebox globe, push out the switch coz the globe is in such a weird, awkward position, short it out, swear and blow an 8A red fuse.
Try and find out where you "safely" put all those spare fuses as they aren't in the glovebox anymore. More swearing. Replace the 8A fuse and carefully install the glovebox globe.
Screw the whole lot in….by hand, I'm not trusting myself with an electric drill even at torque setting #1. I went a loose fit to start with and carefully worked my way tightening them around and across.
Looks good with a lot less droop. Spare fuses will now be in the glovebox.
Another tired, busted bit sacrificed to the hungry bin god.
