Pink ECU

Hi All,

Looks like the dreaded Pink label ECU in my '90 245 has rolled over! looks like a reconditioned exchange unit is my only option, any advice?

See if you can get a white lable ecu with the same part number out of a ‘92. They had the problems sorted by then.

You could also use a lh2.4 ecu out of a ‘89 model. Also a white lable I think.

Is a 740 16V one useable instead? Crossover possible? Asking as i may have the above issue , not done more diagnosis yet but want to have the ECU ruled out as it will be daughtes cr.

Yep you can run a 16v ecu in a 8v car. They don’t make use of the cold start injector, but at summer temps that won’t be a problem. The fuel map might be slightly different, but for starting, idling and some easygoing driving, the 16v ecu will work for troubleshooting.
