When thinking about the upgrade progression for my car, I always thought that I'd be going down the +T road. It is a road that many people have gone down, including people on this forum. Given that my starting point is an 84 B23E on k-jet, researching the +T idea bummed me out due to the amount of work involved when switching to an EFI.
One day while talking to Ash he threw out the "Do you know what will be cool?" line, and the twin carb idea has been in my head ever since. After talking to a few guys here, they've all been enthusiastic about the idea, especially Angus, who'll be doing the work for me. It will be a pricey endeavour, but the pros outweigh the cons. I'd also need to find someone to tune the Webers.
So, from my understanding I'll need the following:
Inlet manifold
Carbs
Linkages/throttle cable setup
Intake horns/filters
New fuel pump?
With the B23E, mildly ported 531, KG8 cam, extractors, manual box and carbs, I should have a very fun and cool ride.
So, your input will be appreciated, as I've not done this conversion before (and it looks like not many people have done it either?). I had a search on Turbobricks, and the type of responses on that forum aren't overly helpful (a lot of dudes getting their e-peens out, but not actually helping each other).
Searching for a kit on the internet didn't bear much fruit either. This place (
webcon.co.uk/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=62&cat=Volvo) seems to have most of the bits, but shipping from the UK cannot be cheap. Ash says that he can get me a manifold through his suppliers, and Egads is selling a pair of 38DCOE's which took to be what I'd need.
Discuss.
