@Ex850R i can try to answer questions here about 3D printers
i use a Creality cr-10 pro v2 due to the build plate size 30x30x40 cm the one thing i changed after about a year was to a magnetic build plate, it made it so much easier to take of the printed parts.
other than that i mostly use pla as a filament but there is a sh't load of them out there so just point at the one that rocks your boat 🙂 then it's just a matter of calibrating the machine to the best of your ability.
then you will need to get a slicer (the program that generates the G-code so the printer knows what to do) Here i use Cura slicer.
if you whant do dive in the deep en of cad software start with fusion 360 (it's free fore personal use) or you can start of with tinkercad.com it's a web based cad program and relativly easy to start of with for doing your own bitts and bobs 🙂
