Hi everyone,
I am NSW based. Recently bought a 98' V70 2.5T (Light Pressure Turbo) at like 295k on the odo, and knew of oil leak and ignition barrel problem (freely spinning), it is rather healthy for such high mileage but needs TLC. Has basically had the equivalent of 60/120k service done recently apart from fuel and pollen/cabin filter. Spark Plugs, Air Filter, Oil Filter, Oil Change, Brake Fluid, I think coolant was fine.
ABS light came on Yesterday (28/8/23), went to work used VST-1000, cleared "Unknown" DTC and checked WS sensor info, FL - 832km/h FR - 0km/h RL - 0km/h RR - 0km/h. ABS light came off, road tested car brake squeal minimised significantly but I still get brake squeal at FL at higher braking pressures and/or quicker stops. Took car home and went about business but today I checked the brakes out as well as investigated oil leak further. Oil covered all over sump and trans but seems to be coming from up top (cleaned down oil), Rear Cam Seal is a good culprit according to mate. Bigger problem I found was split brake lines on both fronts, rear metal lines seemed to be fine and FL WS sensor had aging wiring which may be cause of incorrect reading however I didn't have time to swap over the sensors and read values to rule out faulty or dirty sensor.
With the backstory out the way, my main question is what I should pursue for parts when repairing my brakes and suspension area. I don't mind going just OE but would rather upgrade if others can recommend (for example, braided vs oe brake hoses, bilstein vs sachs, 302mm rotor upgrade + 17" wheel upgrade). Other question is if there are forum posts associated to ABS issues in the V70, I am aware of ABS module failure and ignition switch wear (makes sense as I start it with screwdriver atm), no idea how to diagnose or repair either, I do have a spare module though w/o TRACS in case but no idea of its condition.
Also would appreciate other sources of parts like IPD, FCPEuro, VIVA, DVS, etc.
List of things to replace/fix
- Front suspension mainly shocks (rear shocks recently replaced as OE sachs, considered OE Sachs or Bilstein front shock kit)
- Rubber Brake Hoses Front Only
- FL WS Sensor (Maybe)
- Ignition Barrel (Need locksmith to swap pins from my unit to spare parts tumbler and back into housing)
- Tyres (one has side wall damage could be potential danger as I see threads but not metal might as well do all)

Wheels: Antlia 15" - think they are on 195/60's but can run 195/60 88V or 205/55 87W, could be wrong
