when i first purchased the new motor

I feel like it's lots of work for not much gain.

A Hilux rear end is not exactly sophisticated and would still need a decent sized notch to get it sitting on the sills.

What's the current limit of the rear end? Have you taken the springs out to see how low you could get it?

I have taken the rear springs, bump stops and shocks out it does sit pretty low but like I said I'm not 100% sure if going to use chassis or not I'm jsut weighing up ideas for the moment,

I don't really ahve an idea excstly what km doing just yet in mensing what direction its all up in the air but I'd like to do something out there different

Love the motor in a 740 bay , looks so purposeful and strong!

Did a Toyota Supra rear end come into your searches for a donor? Been done on some other ovlov project I vaguely remember....

Yeah not trying to shoot you down but it's a lot of work if your still planning to keep the factory diff. Usually you run into trouble with engineering if you change the factory suspension pickup points, even more issues if you chop the rear off a monocoque chassis, and there's plenty of fab work with the bag setup and raising the tunnel if you want to be able to drive it slammed.

Some mini tubs and raising the floor if the diff hat is the first thing that hits would get you pretty low

Nah that's cool I completely understand what your saying its a shit ton of work it would be great to do it I just had the chassis an thouggt might us it but your right if the measurements and engineering says otherwise I'll probably end up tubbing it an raising the floor but we will see its all a learning curve right now and I do have a set of air cans laying around I might use

I did look at a supra rear cradle @Ex850R as have seen them done before but they want too much money for them at the moment everyone thinks there parts are worth triple amount so that's a no go for me

That is the lowest point with no springs and no shocks

thats with the front still at stock height so when the fronts down itll come back up a fair bit id like to have the guard atleast over the rim when the fronts down and got to see how much room i have for the trailering arm anyways i think its hitting the floor under rear seats

Technically lowering the front will raise any point behind the rear wheel centreline. :)

either way it needs to be lower so going to see what i can do to make some space

Correct Greg, the point I was making is that the rear will not be raised higher if the front is lower, which is what I believe the OP was intending on

But it will point up higher

Dummy fitted the Holset to get an idea on where i want it to sit as wont be using factory exhaust manifold, still have to make high mount manifold in future but its good to see how it looks on the engine atleast.

the rear suspension is at a holt for the moment so i can tackle to front and sort out how im going to modify the struts to fit my Aircans but heres what the car looks like at this point in time.

farken noice! You could cut the wheel well out then brace the rear chassis and new floor sheet. A bar behind rear seat and another bar above might help stiffen the centre a bit behind doors and would go unnoticed with a dog cage style thing attached.

i have a wagon and I check this thread frequently for.inspiration. I dream about doing something like that to mine thought I’d share. I would like mine as maybe a hillclimb car or something eventful.

The rear section of the floor is getting resheeted and tubbed just to the frame itself, then when I get around to it will have a step notch setup above the original chassis so I can run my aircans and shocks across the bar work that will go from side to side.

Been pretty absent with the build but got the rust in the roof fixed and painted in primer ready for some paint and lace, it's also on stands at the moment trying to remove the front strutd and springs so I can get it's lowest point all round and go from there.
