The LF wheel came from @240Joe and the two rear 140 wheels came from Milton - 140 wheels wouldn't fit over the front calipers and just scrape on the rear calipers, but were fine to keep it mobile to load it onto the trailer.
Tomorrow, we'll swap the drivers door over - the trim is already off and drying. I glued it all together today and glued a non-broken speaker grille into it too.
The LR door trim from the other car will go onto mine tomorrow (it's been glued as well and should be right in the morning)

Got a fair bit done today.
* Swapped over the drivers door - new mirror switch, replaced window switch with a good used one
* Refitted the LR door trim
* Refitted the radiator splash guard/tray (it's been off the car since October last year)
* Cooling system flush and refill
* Auto transmission flush/service - Shifts are WAY better, feels nicer to get off the line.
All the little clips and plastic bits and pieces I grabbed from the other car were invaluable with putting it back together.
Did about 130kms of driving - literally the longest driving distance I've done in it over a weekend since I've had it.
I still have an interior/plastic rattle. I think it is the rear seat.
Booked in for RWC on Tuesday. Hopefully rego later in the week.

I found gaffer tape on the rear seat back catch PO did. It worked !

Did it ever get a new thermostat
AshDVS

If i have to keep raising my STD rate things will get tricky....
AshDVS
Bahaha.
I'll bring it along to Friday hangz soon so you can take a look.
I'm pretty happy with it - i'll be sad when it goes.
Vee_Que
So keep it?
AshDVS
Off with old and covered in little dents -
.... and on with equally as old but with fewer dents (but more spiders).

In for RWC this morning, left from Geelong just after 6:00am to head to Berrys.
Auto pooed its pants just after the tunnel after progressively getting harsher in stop-start traffic. Dash full of lights and the infamous flashing orange arrow. Just made it there with 3rd gear only.
If there is some level of cruel amusement to be had in this, it is that I got rid of my 97 V70T5 parts car on the weekend complete with auto.
Not much you can do about it other than chuckle and move on.
The lovely folks at Berrys are going to put another auto in it today and do the RWC.
Meanwhile, I've got a loan car and I'm visiting the parentals. Hows that for service!

Talk about timing
Should be putting manual into instead of another slush boxen
AshDVS
Had I known, I probably would have but my timeframes won't allow it at the moment.
It is what it is, I'm grateful that they can get it done today. If I was to do it (or a manual swap) myself, id need to get it home and it certainly wouldn't drive there. I also need to be driving it in the next couple of weeks.
Philia_Bear
Interested to know cause of failure as well
Ex850R
Ohh , I have box sitting waiting!
Tzantushka
That's a bugger...
I wonder if there is a transmission condition check-box on the RWC form.
If yes, then place an 'x' next to 'smoldering pile of metal'

Sorry to hear this, horrible timing with the other donor car!

Reminds me of when we blue slipped Nina's car. I'd spent a few nights thrashing it around the backstreets near my home to test everything out. Take it to the workshop, and the stop-start morning traffic put enough heat into the brakes that they seized up! Managed to park it just as one wheel locked up completely.
I still haven't addressed that actually... I broke the caliper free with a C-clamp and it hasn't stuck again since...
AshDVS
Thanks for the kind words and thoughts, folks!
They're not really necessary though - While circumstances were hilariously cruel, the car was bought as a project, sight unseen, with no proof of proper maintenance and the purchase price wasn't overly expensive.
We need to remember that these cars (P80 platform) are typically 15-20 years old. With age, high kms and potentially dubious previous service history, these things happen.
I'd just rather they didn't happen in peak hour on Citylink, three days after I'd sold my parts car with a transmission I could have used. lol.
But... that's not the way it worked out, and there is amusement to be found in it all.
Had it happened a week earlier, I'd have used the trans from the parts car.
Had it happened near home and the parts car was gone already, I'd have done a manual conversion.
Those scenarios didnt happen and the crew from Berrys were awesome in getting it done with zero notice, loaning me a car for the day and letting me hang out and have a beer with them at the end of the day.
After all that, the RWC is done and they put a new rear main seal in it while the box was out. Not knowing if/when it'd last been done, it made sense to do it.
If I can get an appointment for an inspection at Vicroads tomorrow, I'll get it registered.

That sucks. I could have stored it at my factory till you could get it organised. Ah well.
