Small small world. I'm about to go and find a larger dia puller.

No luck with the puller solution. Puller isnt long enough to reach down to the bottom of the sleeve.
I'll drop one of them off with one of the machining places we use tomorrow and see if they can machine the sleeve out. It'll be do-able, just need to find the best way of doing it. If I can get this sorted this week, I'll get them painted next week.

Here's the V70R front bar. It's damaged but repairable.

Tomorrow, I'm picking up some more panels.

Back on the topic of wheels,

Here are a couple of pics of the Australian Volvo 850 Super Touring ride car (ie for corporate guests, and is in no way close in spec to a BTCC car or ASTC car - in the day it would have been quick enough to make sponsors squeal though). Its an 850T5 or 850R. Bootlid says it's an R, but it has 1994 style tail lights and really it's hard to tell from any of the rest of it.

These are largely really old pics, taken with whatever digital camera technology was around 10 years ago -

Obviously they're a Titan wheel, but certainly not using a typical 850 style wheel bolt. Nuts are sitting proud of the rim surface which would make sense with the sleeves that are in mine.

This car may very well be the same one but I cant confirm. Pic was circa 2006 maybe.
I had the details of the owner, but have long since lost them and he was doing some sort of improved production racing with it, but I dont have any further detail.

So, looks like 'Plan C' will be attempted for the sleeve removal from the rim.
Round aluminium stock, machined to fit inside the sleeve. tig it into the sleeve and then punch it out from the back.
Cut that part off the aluminium rod, weld into the next wheel - repeat process 20 times (!!!)

Picked up some more odds and ends today, thanks to the crew at Berrys.
Didnt get onto a XC grille like I'd hoped, but still came away with a bonnet, RF guard, RH front door, V70R aluminium dash insert kit, some door trim parts and - the best part of the day.... A pair of Ohlins front struts. They'll need a rebuild but thats perfectly fine.

Yes, most if it is in pretty good condition except it is a bit ratty around the handbrake.

I asked a trimmer thats known to be good and it was $300+ to do leather steering wheel. The stuff on a x70 wheel is vynl or made from the cheap shit they charge way too much for on lounge suits..Thats why i am going to an 850 wheel , good quality leather and thick rim.

ok, so I noticed tonight that the 'T' in my 'T5' badge is broken. I have a new, in packet 'T5-R' badge.
Would fitting this make me look as stupid as kids who put Chevrolet badges on Holdens??

Rear brake rotors arrived today. 240 shell is going tomorrow, so should have the V70 in and up in the air in the next couple of days.

Have you sussed out rebuilding the Ohlins?
Steve Cramer Products (the Ohlins importer) will be much less than useful for parts or info.
Most specialist suspension workshops will freak out and dribble nonsense about not being able to get parts.

I'd suggest doing them yourself or taking them to a motorbike suspension specialist. Somewhere like RaceTech in Sydney will be happy to supply you with new seal heads, based off dimensions alone (assuming you need seals, which you probably don't).

Finding the clips was a problem for Chris (V-speed). I'd try Murray Coote Automotive in Qld for them, if they're not something obvious.

I have a little.
There is a motorbike suspension guru in North Geelong whose details I should have tomorrow.
One of my speedway contacts run a shock and suspension business, I sent across an mms yesterday and he may take a look.
I've got the clips - I dont think I'd have bought them if they were not included. I checked them out a fair bit before I made the decision. Theres still a slight risk I may not be able to use them but I'm quite confident.

Despite what anyone might say, I'd be amazed if there are any significant dramas with rebuilding them, and nearly as amazed if they are not usable.

And it you don't/can't use them, I WANT THEM!! :)

The biggest issue with getting something like these serviced is that a lot of the places you might take them simply cant be bothered and would rather churn through the same stuff and invoice out multiples of X per service per day.
The key part for me was just double checking that I had all the parts.

I'd guess that they're end up costing 1.5x the price of a pair of new Koni Sports by the time they're ready to be used again. This is more than acceptable for coolness factor alone.

The very reason I pondered long and hard over the set Berry had on the shelf for years..... They came off a tuned C70 which had been hit on one wheel which broke lower part of damper so I wasn't keen. My genuine Volvo strut brace came off that car , the Öhlins remote reservoir's clamped to it , still has the marks on it!

f they'd bent a shaft or spilt the strut tube itself, or were missing anything I wouldn't have bothered.
Since the strut must be assembled with spring, seat, rubber perch, etc before regassing, I'll simply buy all new hardware and swap them in as a complete unit.

Suspension combination will be H&R springs with Ohlins up front and Bilstein B6 in the rear.
