I've also been messing around with some fiddly stuff in the last couple of days and getting the handbrake boot fitted to a new surround. its trivial stuff but good to get out of the way while I wait for parts or for other stuff that is out of my control.

This is the one that came out of my car, with broken clips, etc

And this is the surround that Rob sent down. I used the air powered die grinder to seperate it all and then reassembled it. I clipped it together with bulldog clips, sprayed the edges with spray on Kwik Grip glue, once that sets I can remove the bulldog clips and glue it together properly without worrying about it coming apart.

Looks quite good I think.
Shocks will be back shortly, then I will buy in the lower arms put the new front end in.
Wheels arent far away either, once the front end is done and I have usable 17" wheels, I can fit up the front brakes which is the part I'm REALLY looking forward to.

Hey Ash, what is the deal with rear camber on these things, is it adjustable?

Both Camber and toe are adjustable by shimming on FWD models so not something your average tyre place is happy to do.
AWD can be achieved quite easily via eccentric bush fitment.

Struts are still away, though they were waiting on me to provide the strut top nuts which took a little while to arrive (needed to be ordered in, as typically they're supplied when you buy a new pair of struts)

I picked up a V70R rear bar last week c/o of the folks at Berrys. It's silver already but will be painted before being fitted.
Undecided whether I'll swap the exhaust plug from LHS (for AWD cars) to RHS (for FWD) cars our simply get two exhaust opening surrounds and have an opening in either side.

It you've seen a Diesel current model Mondeo, they're now using the same kit as was used on the XR5 with exhaust openings on both sides but only a single outlet. Looks quite ok.

V70R exhaust blanking plug/plate cant be swapped from one side to the other as the RHS opening in the bar is quite different under the exhaust surround trim (Volvo call it a 'frame') and while the external profiles are the same, how they fasten is quite different.

With a die-grinder and tin snips you could make it work easily, but there is a Volvo genuine 'frame' with a different part number for the RH and LH side pieces.

I'll simply add one to the next Volvo genuine order we do and have it sent out.
So, I'll have two cut-outs in the bar but am still undecided about single or dual exhaust outlets.

I liked the exhaust system I had done for my 850T5, despite it only being a cat-back setup.
2.5" all the way to the back, a decent muffler running diagonally across the car where the monsterous 'suitcase' muffler was and a angled down dump pipe at the back. No chrome, just hi-temp matte black.

Ha! That sounds like what my S70t5 had.
Guy in Lara owned it, had got it from Sydney and it came with a 4" exhaust he said!
Had a local muffler shop change it out,it made a nice sound! Should have kept that car....

Even a 3" system is bordering on 'too big' on a relatively stock T5.
I'll probably go with 2.5" this time, with a decent 2.5" cat and might make up my own DP.

Ash,I wish I had a place to set up my welding gear bench etc,I need a DP myself....Been trying to get an OBX one from the States but the guy is not responding now, must have sold it off, it was cheap enough to get posted....

So, after a few weeks of being preoccupied with other things, I should get a bit of stuff done this weekend.
Here's the list -
* V70R interior to go in.
* Fuel filter
* HEL (Available from DVS) stainless rear brake lines
* ABS/TRACS module replacement

If there is time, I might get a few other things done but we'll just see how we go.

I managed to get a little bit done this evening and removed the front seats and fitted front seats from a V70R.
Passenger front V70R seat was a little better than the seat that came out of my car, while the drivers V70R seat - though it isn't perfect - is about a thousand times better than the V70T5 seat I removed.

I still cant get the rear seat back out, but will have another go when I have an extra pair of hands tomorrow.

Everything needs a really good scrub but I'll get to that once the rear seat and rear interior are back in.
