Hi guys
Looking for a 90s redblock turbo exhaust manifold..
Also ..Anyone know a good supplier of decent intake/ exhaust studs?
Cheers
Vee_Que
I have one for sale on exchange... But seems like a massive waste to put a restrictive on a 8v head manifold onto a heaviliy modified 16v v. Do you have the stock 16v manifold? Making a j pipe would be the best compromise on a budget... As per linuxman on turbobricks.

And studs. 8mm or 10mm and just off the shelf nissan ones etc. From bursons. Though im suprised your head guy didn't do them as mine do!

For the j pipe reference. Hope you're using a decent turbo and engine management!

Yup. Your head guys did mine. As two were broken. :D
I wouldn't mined doing a j pipe, but already invested in my ceramic 90+ t3 flange manifold.

Thanks for the advice guys..didnt think the 8v manifold was thought of being that restrictive and good for below 500 bhp ?..at least according to Yoshifab and
shak
But then Yoshifab is selling a product isnt he..
Vee_Que
They are restrictive on an 8v with any decent sized turbo and cam.

Thanks for the advice again. Seems to be a divergence of opinion regards that manifold then..perhaps driven by the need to compromise/ limit cost and the ease of obtaining an adaptor plate.

Id say so. In my experience. Someone on the forum has a gt30rx turbo on a ported manifold. It feels pretty instant. But having driven yld244 with a GT35R and custom manifold.... Its night and day for boost response. Same cam (KG2T)

Food for thought indeed.
Appreciate the info and advice.

I disagree
Ported 90+ spools anything correctly sized ball bearing amazingly fine

I think that's the ball bearing chra speaking millions over the journal counterpart

Vs a j pipe? With much larger exhaust ports to the turbo? 944 turbos run effectivly something like that from the factory to make large amounts of power. It can work with a 90+ but its like blowing into a straw vs a pipe from this head In question...

Ok, so if for arguments sake we say the 90+ isnt up to the mark, and we put aside the 16v manifold with a J pipe and say one wanted to have a custom manifold and downpipe made to fit a 240 engine bay what kind of ballbark figure are we looking at in Melbourne for this kinda work? Anyone any recommendations for a reliable shop to do this?..
Vee_Que
To have a manifold made up. around $1300. If you take it to a fabrication shop That makes them For anything. If you go for someone who just wants to make one to Be part of the job.. It will be les. But more time involved. Id start by typing in fabrication on Facebook actually. Lots of people doing it and they show off thier work.
Philia_Bear
The $1300 is imho better spent on 1000x other places first
Unless you need to make over 300KW at the wheels its not required

Sure is an awful lot of cash.

I have the gtx30 on my ported manifold with the kg2t cam and I find it pretty laggy but it's still good but I lose boost through gear changes, call up havoc fabrication he's good with manifolds and shouldnt be anywhere near $1300, probably half of that price
CamT
That's why I'm converting from manual to auto, no more lag through gear changes :)

Thanks for that advice KLR..interesting regards the auto preference to reduce lag..like most others "traditional " 16 v projects i had always envisioned converting to manual via Supra or T5 box..your comment puts a different spin on it...what auto box are you considering?
Is your engine 8 or 16v?...im wondering coz of the Kg2t that ur using..
