So, post Ozvolvo nats update!
The car was against some very fierce competition, and to my surprise took out best modified!
I did 1500ish km over the 3 days and was totally without issue.
It drove there under its own power, got us to where we needed to be and drove home again with as little as a washer fluid top-up.
For anyone wondering about fuel consumption of a B6304 swapped 240 with the auto still in it, good AMM and new O2 sensor, heres the data:
1st month was waiting for a new O2 sensor, everything from Friday onwards was highway driving and some short inner city driving when we got into Canberra.
My Air fuel mix was spot on, with my wideband reporting a tight oscillation between 14.5 and 15.1 in quick succession.
Drove 95% of the time with the lockup converter engaged that I had wired up the night before to an interesting looking sideways 2 series heated mirror switch, It looks stock and works, so Im happy.
I couldnt use the stock OD disengage switch on the shifter or wiring as after a power cycle, it would be constantly supplied with 12v, and I was running out of time at that stage to modify it so I wired directly into the back of the TCM to power the lockup solenoid via the stock wiring harness.
I have since confirmed that without a diff signal, or a main gear selectors switch signal that the car is running in whats known as "Emergency shifting mode" as described by the factory green books, this entails 100% line pressure shifting (Which is fun at WOT squirts) and uses the transmissions internal speed signal to run its normal economy shifting pattern. Shifts at mid to low throttle position as as smooth as factory.
The only downside is that it wont engage lockup in this mode, hence the hotwiring of the solenoid.
Need to iron out my shock settings, swap out a clunky swaybar link, clean up some wiring & fix a few rattles, but for the most part - Its kinda done, atleast in its 6 cylinder powered time that is...
Here are some photos I stole,
Future plans for the car:
*Design some nice 5.25 inch speaker spacers and ditch the old cracked front speaker assemblies, Might swap the Alpine S lines out for some R lines
*Fix the 850R after this semester wraps up (5ish weeks)
*New windscreen & rubbers (I think mine miiiight be leaking a bit and have all shrunk)
*Ruin the 240 again by either manual swapping the 6 or by pulling the whole lot out & selling the powertrain as a drop in swap & start messing around with glorious 5 cylinders again
*More boost
*Ditch the locker for a Trutrack or similar ATB LSD
