Ill see how I go for crimpers
They are something id like to own myself too.
Slapped some new bumper brackets in and eliminated the biggest rattle
So after putting 500km on it so far, 400 with the new O2 sensor I can say this:
With a 3.73 rear end, at 100km/h you'll be sitting at 2500rpm on the dot.
You do not need a diff signal for the tcm to work, shifts are very firm, does not slur at WOT and at low throttle openings the car likes to shift at 2k.
Its sure as hell not in limp mode either, she absolutely chews up onramps and loves holding onto a gear right just before redline if you are flat footing it, its made for some very fun momentum driving through highway roundabouts & back roads near Packenham.
I hate the exhaust note between 2k and 4k, muffler goes back in when I can find it.
Now the main reason for this post.
This evening on my way home from its big test drive, an uber driver with a CAMRY full of young girls nosed very quickly 2 meters out in front of me on Warrigal road and stopped, i was in the left lane and jumped on the brakes.
Ive got 2 year old RE003s in 225 45 17s all round, Freshly fitted and bedded QFM A1RMs on the front, and QFM HPXs on the rear.
RX7 calipers and new lines all round & decent brembo rotors.
I locked up the rear before the front, but stayed within my lane - I did not swerve.
If I hadnt had some half decent stuff on it the 240 would have been toast.
The limit was 60, and the road was dry & another 10 cm and id have hit the drivers side door.
Good brakes, good tyres & not being distracted saved my shit tonight.
Modern day tech like ABS, stability control, auto braking & brake vectoring really do save lives, so always be aware of you and your cars limitations, especially if you drive something without these things.
