egads (she/her) Waiting for a 3ur to turn up wrecked at the dealership next to me to shoehorn it approximately into the 142 shell
Andy Just a cammed LS in a 940 wagon would be mad as fuck. No other V8's come close to a LS in terms of power, $$ and reliability.

Ghettobird The noise this thing makes at 1:34 is ungodly Would love to mess with a big 8 oneday, If only they came in S80s and I had 2 parked out the front and the boss would let them go for the cost of stripping the car for the day B) Atleast thats where Ill get the T6 from The Audi V10s are a hefty unit
Philia_Bear The 4.2 Audi v8 is dam near free in the USA at this point and is tbh quite bulletproof Oh yeah and it bolts strait to a diesel spec m90 or m47 because VW pattern... or... lots of conversion parts for running the 350z box as well
Ex850R That Yamaha v8 sounds very nice. Tha day we borrowed bmg S80V8 was a memorable occasion, just too much power for slippery seats and weird suspension.. Tha sound when you start it though..........
Samman88 I like the idea of a TR6060 as a strong gearbox; but leave it on things that are bigger than 4 litres. Even in the best case scenario where you fork out 2k+ on one that comes out of an xr6t for the shorter ratios, you're stuck with: 2.98 1.78 1.30 1.00 0.71 0.55 So you're pretty much faced with the choice of putting a 5:1 diff in it so you've got more than 4 usable gears, and living with your left hand attached to the shifter, or leaving it with the 3.xx diff it has and shifting into 6th (at 4300rpm I should note) as you pass the 200kmph mark. Unless the big turbo, lower comp 2.3 litre 5 cylinder cruises well at 1600rpm sitting on 110? :p Compare that to the CD009 ratios; 3.8 2.3 1.6 1.3 1.0 0.8 And you can see why they're an attractive swap...
Samman88 To clarify, it has nothing to do with the first gear ratio. 4.0:1 would see you never changing into 6th at any speed that's legal - and even then if you were having a dig you'd want to shift at revs - say 6krpm for a whiteblock? Cool you're at 280kmph in 5th at 6k revs... are you really taking your hand off the wheel to shift into 6th now? The difference in shift frequency between getting a box with decent ratios and a normal rear diff vs getting a box with long ratios and a 5:1 diff for example, is that the 0.35 or so difference in gear sizes (where it counts in 2nd 3rd and 4th when you're on the berries) on both boxes is then divided by the diff ratio. I.e. 3.xx normally or 5 - and so this is what would effectively make the TR6060 with a 5:1 diff a wildly close ratio box. Not in essence a bad thing considering you want to rev high, but as long as you consider the implications.
Ghettobird I always forget to look into ratios :/ Very well put Sam 2-2.6k at 100 is doable for me, although lower than 2.2ish would be pretty good. Where would the CD009 land me in 6th and at 100 clicks?

Just input the tyre size, ratios of gearbox and diff and it works everything out for you. https://www.blocklayer.com/rpm-gear.aspx
Ghettobird Bloody good tool that @nugget_940! The CD009 looks spot on for daily use 5th gear 2.5k is 80, then 61... Etc Thats looks pretty good to me! I do enough highway to not want to loose a reasonable OD And the AW340 does about that exact rpm in lockup
Samman88 According to that neat site, with a 3.31 diff (standard in sedans?) And 225/45r17 tyres (on the eikers?) You'd see 110kph at 2400rpms in 6th with the CD009 or 1700rpms in 6th with the TR6060. I forgot about ratios also, but was remembering reading about the two overdrive gears in the TR6060 whilst looking into gearboxes for the 2J. I mean perhaps with a 740 4.1 in there the TR6060 would be ok (2000rpms at 110kph) but I wonder if you'd just leave it in 5th (2600rpms at 110kph) and with any higher diff ratio I'd worry for the driving experience!
Samman88 I mean, probably be fine. I'd be inclined to leave whatever is in there alone and move up or down from there after seeing how gearbox/diff/torque curve/boost response play out.
Andy Any 1st gear higher than 3.3:1 is a waste. The gear is so short you will be out of 1st before the turbo spools. The VF commodore has 3.01 1st which would be perfect for a 6 cylinder. Sam you are correct with the potential top speed of 6th in the T56/6060 but it's a overdrive gear. Swap out the existing 6th and install a 0.63 and you will be sitting on 2000rpm @ 110kph with 3.9 gears. I would only use 6th on the flat with my V8 commodore but mind you I was at 1200rpm at 100kph. With a 3L NA 6 there should be plenty of reserve torque to drive the car with it sitting on 1750rpm at 100kph.
