I've always wondered if the dual-circuit brakes are naturally more squishy.
calvintibia001
@jamesinc i thought all cars are dual circuit brakes, it is really weird when it go squishy, if you actually push it hard, it will still stop, just the feed back is like all gone

It is a volvo with abs. They flex in the firewall like Commodores do. Pads will be average after 2 or 3 laps on a track. Have you changed your transmission oil yet?
calvintibia001
Transmission oil not yet, throw in some Automatic gearbox additive, which seems to work a bit. But since it will be mostly mild driving from my mate in the coming few months, I was thinking, I'll do it when I come back. I will put in some Penrite Fully Synthetic ATF, and then drive it around for a week, do the accumulator mod and swap it to some Mobil 1, it is goina be a expensive job.

1: Change gear-box to the M90, or buy a 94 or newer already have M90.
2: Replace clutch
3: Make sure you buy a 940 with LSD.
4: Get bigger injectors, type a minimum of around 380cc or something like that.
5: Rebuild the AMM so you increase the area as much as you are upping air intake in percentage terms. Put the AMM in a new pipe, transplanting old electronics.
6: Buy a 18T/19T with angled flange (yep, they have better design of the exhaust part).
7: Build a 3 "exhaust system.
8: Properly ported manifold
9: Pick off the top and either
9A: Port and put in larger valves (48/38.6)
9B: Buy a 531 peak and throw in larger valves.
10: Gut the airbox and clear out the holes in the box that are originally plugged.
11: Get an A or VX3 cam (You need only to stay below 6000 rpm which is usually enough)
12: Fix a two, three different chip (borrow various boxes for example)
13: Buy an adjustable FPR so that you can adjust the fuel pressure if needed.
14: Buy a wideband
15: Kidnap someone who has done this before and who can set joxet and have a feel for when it does (or book up on a rolling road with someone who wants to do the job) and borderline:
16: Larger, more efficient intercooler (eBay)
17: New distributor plus rotor, new PCV, new pins, new fuel filter.
This was on the thread that @nicko linked. Interesting, personally my 300whp will come like this:
531 Head
AW71 Accumulator Mod
TD05 - 16G + J-Pipe
440cc Injectors
012 AMM
Wideband
3" Exhaust

Don't be surprised if lh2.4 doesn’t what to play nice with that setup.
calvintibia001
@nickm thats the thing I am worried, I want to stay with LH2.4, I want to be able to start my car everyday. I will work to the limit of the LH 2.4, if I can't get my 150rwkw, so be it
Ben
It will, but you also have to make sure that you don't cool them too much for normal driving. I've gone with more aggressive pads (EBC green or black) and I scored one of Ash's vented brake backing plates. With this setup I needed to warm the pads up in the morning but they were good for the rest of the trip.
If I added ducting or went more aggressive I'd have problems keeping the heat in them for everyday driving. If I wanted more then it would drilled/slotted and more aggressive pad and/or an RX7 brake conversion.
My suggestion would be to try more aggressive pads and see what you think. If it's close then great, if it's still underwhelming then perhaps think about going in feet first and doing the RX7 upgrade.

Any thoughts on an aftermarket EMS?
calvintibia001
@Ben my car is a 940, so upgrade options are C70 (302mm) / S60R (330mm) / Evo 7 (330mm). I don't want to touch Aftermarket EMS, mainly 2 reasons, expensive and difficult to tune myself
calvintibia001
Guys as I am aiming for 150rwkw, what transmission should I consider. I am thinking to swap to Manual:
High Stale Convertor + AW71 Accumulator mod ($600 ish ?) (anyone got link for the Valve Body mod that VQ mentioned before ? )
M47 Swap from Spac ($900)
M90 Swap ($1200 + $300)
T5 Swap (Around $1000 ? )
W58 Swap (Around $800? coz I have a W55 at home)
Anymore cheaper option : )
(A Full RB20DET + 5 Speed Swap ? : P)
Vee_Que
Only the aw or t5 or w5x boxes will handle the power. And are easy to obtain. All will cost more. Valve body mod is on turbobricks under that exact name. Accumulator mod is the other name. High stall and rebuilt auto will be easiest in that it's already in the car just changed internally. Everything else will be a lot more time consuming. Buy spacs m47 swap parts. Convert to t5 box and you sell what you don't use otherwise. Pedal boxes are hard to get!
calvintibia001
Is there anyway to modify and make it a Manual Valvebody : ( What torque convertor did you get ? 2800 ?
Vee_Que
Manual valve body? Not worth it on the power you want. Still can shift manually but they go better when left in drive once modified. My stall is 2800 but goes out to 3200 on boost.
calvintibia001
@Vee_Que how much did it all costing you ? I might need to have my AW71 rebuild, with a higher stall torque converter and a Level 10 valve body, hopefully it will hold my 150rwkw (I eventually have : P)
Vee_Que
What's a level 10 valve body? It ended up costing close to 2k but you won't be drag racing so you don't need a higher stall converter. I paid very Little in labour for my box and stall and installed it myself. I did build my first box and it failed due to one seal.
I think you can get away with accumulator mod for the power you want like most others do. I spent the money on the box as I didnt want to risk destroying $400 of clutches again.
Also not worth using synthetic oil in your car. Waste of money.
egads (she/her)
You can get away with longer between oil changes and with longer between PCV cleaning with a full synth so not a complete waste of cash, just probably not worth the extra cost.

$600, don't know if its worth it, but I'll do a Accumulator mod and new filter and new gasket, should do me 150rwkw, but I really want a higher stall, but I know its damn expensive : (
Vee_Que
No need for one unless drag racing however. Bulletproof? I've got a vague recollection that linuxman used one and it didn't work that we'll for him or something.
calvintibia001
@Vee_Que I remeber about that as well, so plain accumulator mod.
One idea, I remember people say it will become very harsh when it changes gear, is it a good idea to swap to stiffer springs instead of totally replacing it with a bolt ?
