Hi guys I have for sale both left and right hand quarter panels for a 242GT.
The passenger side has a small amount of body filler in it and the driver side is fine.
If you have a shed you could hang them up just in case you have a fender bender down the track

$320 each side

scrapped, along with the rest of the 242 gear.
Did you get 320 each? I heard scrap is 40 a tonne.
Had one guy call up offering 40 bucks for the two. Sounded like he had a heart attack when I told him I'm not interested and that I'm now going to scrap them lol.
Well yeah, they cost about $300 new, so I'm not surprised?
Cheapest genuine panels I found were 1400 each...
Scrapping anything 242 that's useable is not clever. $1400 may be the list price but who buys it? If you wanted $320 each and no one sends you an offer then it means you are in the wrong market. If you get an offer, instead of being spiteful and destroying it so no one can use it, why not see if you can make a compromise. At the end of the day they are your parts but it doesn't help others to keep these cars in circulation when the parts get scraped so carelessly. Not having a go but its a little food for thought.
Heh. Funnily enough, I only found this ad and bookmarked it about a week ago.

$300 new ones ex-USA and the ones on offer here have essentially the same problems: (1) difficulty and expense to transport, and (2) 242s are also rather comparatively rare in Aus compared to 4-door sedans and wagons. So parts unique to 2-door cars aren't exactly going to be rapid sellers.

Is the OP open to a reasonable offer, since I have a pair of 142s and one or both of which may need rear quarter work? It won't be 320 a pop, but it'll be better than 40 pesos the pair, and pick-up can be next week.
They are gone already out of spite...
I'm not sure if they have been taken out of the factory yet. I'll find out

Cheers.
CVI used to sell them. They were $200 or $300 to ship to Aus I believe.

That's a really good shipping price. But I can't find any on CVI's site, GCP are all out, and VP Autoparts has repair sections, but not complete pressings. Which leaves the US dealer network as the only financially realistic option for a brand new one.

BTW, I have a question for you about Amy's rear quarter repair, which I'll PM you about.
I'd thought about the idea of building a 242 from a really late 240 four door shell with 242 quarters.
These would have been a good way to achieve that.
Maybe e-mail CVI? They will respond in English. They're pretty nice
Its not clear - so they got scrapped in the end?
See its a 1980 version with corrosion at an important point.
A 1979 qtr panel would be worth keeping as only 190 came to OZ

Does anyone have a 1979 drivers side qtr panel? Looks like I need one...

purchased this fine beast this morning.
I know of someone else who could really use a straight LH one, I hope they haven't been made into dog food cans yet.
