Still measures 60.5mm/23.8". Had another guy measure up an AU at 23.5. Not sure where to measure the input shaft but here is one from face to tip.

A 167mm (6_9/16 inch) long input shaft (with a 43/64 inch tip) is consistent with a Falcon 6 cyl T5 - see Dellow graphic on p.2 of this thread.

The V6 Commodore T5 has a 9.5 inch (240 mm) long input shaft

Glad we could clear that up! Most important thing is that she lines up nicely once she's in. Probably go with the short shifter they sell on eBay too

A 24.5mm plate may need to be made, spigot bearing will be the issue though. Dissapointed that the au box isn't longer than the vs, odd even! But ba boxes go for 600+....

Logically to go to a thicker plate, we want the eb on v8 input shaft....

Ea box is tiny. Though it's the input shaft. Same diameter same spline. Though length I'm not sure.

Alex is right the best way would be to find a longer input shaft and a thicker plate. EA box with a Commodore input shaft? But you would be looking at a very thick plate

That is the other option for me in the future. When I can be assed to get that extra 1" rearward shifter pos.

Ea/b boxes are hard to find and not WC correct?

Though what i believe that Alex was referring to is the input shaft from the ea/b on v8, as they are the same as the mustang v8. I'll have to double check, I found a bunch of shaft length info the other day.

The Deeworks / Yoshifab adapter kit is (AFAIK) designed to bolt a Ford 'box to an M46 bellhousing via their adapter plate (i.e. pattern A).

@Dauntless - it appears some of the US folks on TBrix used a DeeWorks / Yoshifab adaptor on their 700s, and used the V8 Mustang T5 'box, but used the shift rod and rear half of a Camaro T5's housing to get that extra length for the shifter.
Alternatively, you could do it this way.

I'll make it easier. Eb on v8 is 1/2" thicker

Problem I see is the input shaft will be a 2.95 not a 3.33, so requiring the $$$ V8 box or new cogs.
Sourcing a longer input shaft seems a good option though.

Your missing that the input shaft is actually thicker. Not just longer. Will that pose issue?. If inrecall correctly, the Eb/el/Ef clutch is diff weren't to all the other ford.

The tip is thicker, the spline being the same means it should Fit...

We had best measure them then.
I would have thought when descriptions say shaft is xyz thick, it's the whole shaft with a 10spline fitment.

Eb V8 and mustang v8 are both the same size but different total lengths... 10 x 1/16"
