I was having another snoop around it today after the wind kindly removed the car cover.

It is an excellent buy... so is the Aldi car cover that has survived the winds of the past few days. :)

I bought it on the weekend before xmas. i think it was 39$, they had 3 sizes.

@Rob i might come out and have a snoop around myself so i can fill up my parts list.

Anyones thoughts on the OEM sachs struts? or are bilstein better?

I can't comment on the sachs. But a bit of a google they are very similar so price would be the decider that is if you are going for a "comfortable" ride. The R handle well without $$$ shocks.

*comfortable meaning a street car.

Sounds good, i have found a kit on FCP euro that i think is a bargain. It looks like it includes most parts.

As it is auto im not after anything alse than "street car stuff". maybe down the track it can be converted to manual.... :)

Midwest ABS in USA does a good deal on the ABS / TRACS unit or there is a guy down here that does them too.
I had ignition key barrel issue early on with my 855R as well but the ABS unit needed done anyway later.

The Koni sport struts have the lower perch mounted slightly further down the strut body (as do ohlins, but not quite as pronounced), compared to oem (made by Sachs) which gives an instant ride height drop.
If you're using a Koni sport strut and 850R or lowered springs, running tyres that are too tall becomes an issue.

As a replacement for standard shocks, Sachs or Bilstein B4 are fine. Both are quite comparable though. I'd avoid a KYB or Monroe.

I am super happy with the XR5 brake conversion... Sure it is no 10 pot ceramic 500mm setup but for a road car they are great.

if it is your intention to use it as a road car but you are after something a little better, I recommend these

Always thought my R was lower at front then when the struts were in the S70T5 it looked really good Koni Yellows are great!

Went out to buy a bonnet but came home with some more stuff. He also had 4 black doors for a wagon if someone is in need.

Not sure if i need the R bumper but couldn't resist. Both corners are cracked but they don't grow on trees....

It's always good to grab an R bumper when one comes along - they're becoming tough to come by now so are well worth repairing and using.

Nick since owning the R my ability to gauge the clearance of those things has become phenomenal. I can stop the car reliably within about 2cm of them!

Been awhile since anything happened here. A couple of weeks ago i changed the PCV.

The car smokes white. it doesn't take coolant and oil is not milky. What i think it might be is either PCV (just changed) or valve stem seals or turbo.

Today i pulled of the turbo. i bought a genuine mitsubishi rebuild kit for my little 15G turbo and i took everything apart today. Tomorrow i will reassemble again with new fresh parts. Thankfully i found this guide on the interweb:

I thought i wanted to get the car running ok before i start throwing money at suspension, brakes etc.
