So, it has been a while since Bruce Lee visited, but today he arrived for his annual service - oil, filter and few other bits - now at 505 k's and still running strong. Made a nice pair in the driveway with the Sports Biscuit!

Man i love those bumpers!!! A friend had a wagon of this year. Some chic pulled up too quick and he ran into her. caused 1,500 damage to her ford...and it bent his bumper without damaging the panel. $40 for a bumper from the wrecker...and as good as new.
Id love to black powder-coat a set of these and put them on a 92 240 wagon. :-)

I saw your 244 out on the street for a few weeks and I wanted to park next to it and get a photo. I wondered who owned that wagon too.

Well after four years being used by a friend of mine Bruce Lee has returned, so I've been playing away with it. Here's a few pics. The first shot is when it arrived looking pretty chalky and then the last shot of it with my other Volvo 244 (Sports Biscuit) which now has been sold and lives in Westbury. I've fitted some Cibie Oscars to the front as well as a Recaro.

Next up, I've had an M46 sitting round for some time, while with 500,000 k's the head was pretty coked. Given what a bugger it is to get the top two bolts out of the bell housing, I thought I'd rip off the head and then swap the gearbox, well that was the plan.

Only problem being, while I thought I'd got the right tail shaft, they don't match up, so gearbox in, clutch and pressure plate replaced but in terms of the gearbox that is as far as I can go, so back to the head while I chase a new tail shaft.

Ah, it just gets better - got the new head on and it is a later model one with this thing below the exhaust I think for some primitive form of air injection - I assume I just crimp the each of the tubes to block it off - has anybody done this - HELP???

5c coin is the perfect solution as mentioned in that thread.

So I'm happy to report, my wagon is now fitted with four 5 cent coins mansealed in and with a reconditioned head and k cam runs as sweet as a nut - now the only challenge is to get a tail shaft so I can take it for a run, see if the overdrive works and see if there is any performance improvement. Also waiting on a new speedo cable from IPD as the M45 one is too short.

Where's it gone wrong re tailshaft? Length, flanges or both? I'll have a rummage here if you want to measure up what you need. Probably got something that'll work.

I've got to say in Tasmania, we Volvo drivers are a hardy lot! No sooner had I posted that I needed a tailshaft for my 245 when both @volvodriverman and @1971_144GL were both offering to dig one out for me - I've got to say it is one of the many reasons why I love my Volvo - the support you get from other enthusiasts is outstanding. Happily I managed to fit the tail shaft today after @1971_144GL was kind enough to come to Hobart for the long weekend. It's now in and I drop about 750 rpm on the highway which takes the wagon from buzzy speed limit driver, to interstellar overdrive rocket!

Yup, the hipster apocalypse in West Hobart/Mount Stuart is finally starting to show that cream does rise to the top! I get cards under my windscreen if I leave the car on the street! There was a time when I could leave the keys in the ignition and know it would still be there in the morning!
